Durban – Eighteen people sustained injuries after a taxi and a car collided on the Hans Detman Highway in Shallcross, Durban on Tuesday afternoon.

Rescue Care spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said paramedics and other services arrived on scene to find multiple patients lying on the roadway, some with serious injuries.

“More ambulances were dispatched to the scene as well as advanced life support units. Once all of the injured had been stabilised... they were transported to various Durban Hospitals for the further care that they required.”

Jamieson said the cause of the accident was unclear and would be investigated by police.
