Bloemfontein – A man who raped 10 girls - aged 15 to 17 - was on Monday given 10 life sentences in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court, Free State police said.

Police spokesperson Peter Kareli said Ramohapi Elias Ntholeng, 47, raped the girls between 2011 and 2014.

“In 2011, the man was released on parole when he was serving a life sentence for raping another young girl, but six months after his release he started raping girls again," said Kareli.

He lured girls to a secluded area by saying police were looking for them, and then raped them, he said.

He was arrested again after one of the victim’s sisters almost fell victim to his traps.

“The victim’s sister alerted the community who apprehended him and handed him over to the police,” Kareli said.
