Johannesburg - The case against terror-accused siblings from Azaadville, west of Johannesburg, was postponed for trial in the Kagiso Regional Court on Thursday.

Ibrahim and his sister Fatima Patel made a brief appearance and had their case postponed to February 15 2017.

Ismail was dressed in a green thawb and covered his face with a black and white keffiyeh. Fatima wore a full burqa with only her eyes showing.

The two were arrested after a stun grenade and 21 bullets were allegedly found in their house during a raid on July 9. They were charged with violating the Explosives Act and Firearms Control Act.

They were released on R5 000 bail each after their lawyer, Yousha Tayob‚ brought an urgent application before the High Court in Johannesburg for their release.

During their previous appearance, Tayob said the level of trauma they experienced following their arrest had settled and they were now fine.

They were allegedly linked to the self-styled Islamic State (Isis) terror group and allegedly planned to set off explosives at a US embassy and Jewish institutions in South Africa.

Twins Brandon-Lee and Tony-Lee Thulsie, 23, were arrested during another raid on the same day.

They were charged with three counts of contravening the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act.
