Three dead in head-on collision in KZN

KwaZulu-Natal - Three people died after they were involved in an accident on Saturday evening in Thornville in the Natal Midlands.

According to Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha the accident happened on the R56 when two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.

“Reports from the scene indicated that one of the vehicles burst into flames on impact with one person still trapped inside.”

Three people were found dead when medical services arrived at the scene while three other people sustained critical injuries.

“Paramedics stabilised the injured at the scene before transporting them to hospitals in Pietermaritzburg under the constant care of advanced life support paramedics.”

The cause of the accident is still unknown with local authorities opening an investigation into the matter.
