Bloemfontein - Three men were stabbed to death in separate incidents in Botshabelo outside Bloemfontein at the weekend, Free State police said on Monday.

Police spokesperson Constable Peter Kareli said on Saturday night an argument ensued between a 32-year-old man and his friends while they were on their way to a party.

“It is not clear what the argument was about, but the man’s friend took out a knife and stabbed him once on the neck,” Kareli said.

Police found the man lying in a pool of blood. The suspect was later arrested.

In another incident, the body of a 30-year-old man was found near a public clinic in Botshabelo on Sunday. The man was stabbed in the neck and was certified dead on the scene by paramedics. The suspect is still at large.

In the last incident, a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend on Sunday.

“It is alleged that while the couple was walking home, they met with the ex, who started insulting the girlfriend and a fight started.  The ex-boyfriend was stabbed twice on the chest and once on the left side of the chest," Kareli said.

The man was later arrested and is expected to appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
