Durban – A group of protesters held up a truck and set it alight during a protest in Doringkop near KwaDukuza, north of Durban on Tuesday.

The truck was carrying wood.

The driver managed to escape and there were no injuries.

Police confirmed that about 100 protesters blocked the road, burning tyres and stones demanding that the councillor be removed from the area over a lack of service delivery.

Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said the KwaDukuza police would investigate a case of malicious damage to property and public violence.
