Twitter users cut deep as they #AskBlade for answers

Cape Town - Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande put his head on the social media chopping block on Friday, inviting users on Twitter to pose questions to him at #AskBlade.

Fairly new to the brutality of Twitter, the minister used his account, which he opened in January, to send out the invitation.

Bonginkosi Nzimande @DrBladeNzimande said: "For 24 hours I invite you to #AskBlade questions you have about #HigherEducation - Will post Answers Monday 29 Feb."

And Twitter took up the challenge.

From questions about his skin care routine, to some about his "high pitched" voice and his shoe size, the minister was slammed for using social media to address serious issues.

Nothing was off limits, as users asked for the Gupta curry recipe and his opinion on the latest music trends.

A lot of users were interested in his favourite alcoholic beverages.

The minister has been accused of being absent during ongoing violent strikes at universities around the country this month, and some users called him out on that.
