Polokwane – Limpopo police are investigating a vigilante attack after two men were killed for allegedly robbing a supermarket in Mogapeng village on Friday morning.

Spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said the two men were stoned to death at a nearby mountain.

"Three suspects were allegedly in the process of robbing an owner of a supermarket when he screamed for help... The community came to assist him and in the process two of the suspects were stoned to death and assaulted. The third one escaped," Otto said.

Police said they were still looking for the third man. No arrests had been made.

Otto asked members of the community to come forward if they had any information that could assist the police with their investigation.
