Johannesburg - The ANC in Gauteng said it would not tolerate illegal behaviour from hooligans, after the party's Tshwane office was vandalised on Tuesday.

"Disciplinary measures will be taken against any member of the ANC who participates in acts of violence and criminality," the ANC in the province said in a statement.

"We urge the South African Police Services to arrest any person regardless of them being ANC members, if they break the law."

It said the party had various channels members could use to air grievances.

Earlier on Tuesday, disgruntled ANC supporters in Tshwane vandalised the party's regional office in Arcadia, as they called for the removal of the party's leadership in the area.

The ANC in Gauteng said the behaviour in Tshwane was "most un-ANC like". It urged members to refrain from illegal behaviour.

The provincial leadership would meet with the regional leadership to discuss the matter and other incidents which happened in the past week.

Last week, a group of ANC Womens' League members bared their backsides outside the ANC's Tshwane offices. They were unhappy with the outcomes of a branch general meeting.
