Pretoria – A man was shot and killed in the early hours of Saturday morning in Westville, Durban, paramedics said.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics responded to a shooting incident in the Westville area of Durban.

"Reports from the scene indicate that a 36-year-old man went into the yard when he sustained a gunshot wound from an unknown person," Botha said.

He said the man was found lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics worked tirelessly for about 35 minutes, doing advanced life support resuscitation.

"Tragically, the man was declared dead at the scene due to the extensive injury that he sustained," he said.
