Durban - A wheelchair-bound Berea man accused of soliciting sexually explicit images from a 13-year-old girl in the United States made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The man, who cannot be named, was arrested in December last year by a team of specialised police investigators looking into online sexual exploitation of minors.

They had received a tip-off from their counterparts in the US.

The exchange between the suspect and the girl was done through a mobile application called Kik.

Police searched the man's home in a block of flats where they found and seized six hard drives, six cellphones, a USB, 22 DVDs and CDs, and a 3G card.
