Woman dies after being set alight in Atteridgeville

Pretoria – A woman has died after being doused with petrol and set alight in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, Gauteng police said on Monday.

She died in hospital before police were able to speak to her to find out what had happened, Captain Kay Makhubela said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said when paramedics arrived at the scene in the informal settlement on Sunday morning, they found a woman in her thirties who had been doused with a flammable liquid, believed to be petrol, and set alight. She had sustained severe burns.

Police are investigating.
