Woman killed by hippo in Limpopo while fishing

Tzaneen - A woman was killed, and another injured when they were attacked by a hippo while fishing in the Nwanedzi River, near Tzaneen, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the pair was attacked on Monday.

The 50-year-old woman, who is a Zimbabwean national, died at the scene.

Her friend, a 57-year old from the nearby Nkambako village suffered multiple injuries. She was taken to Letaba Hospital.

An inquest case was opened.
