Mpumalanga - Mpumalanga police are investigating two cases of murder after the bodies of two women were found in separate locations in Mbombela on Friday morning.

Provincial police spokesperson, Sergeant Gerald Sedibe, said the first body was discovered in Karino while the second one was found at Alroe Park near the SABC provincial offices in Mbombela.

"First to be discovered was the partially decomposed body of a 39-year-old woman at a farm in Karino near Mbombela. The victim’s body was spotted by a farm employee who summoned police. When police arrived at the scene they found the body covered with branches. It was discovered that the victim had been reported missing since last Saturday," he said.

Sedibe said the second body, which was half-naked, was found under a tree.

"The second body was spotted by a passer-by in the bushes at Alroe Park. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the half-naked body of the victim, who is estimated to be in her early thirties, with stab wounds.

"We do not know if she was raped or not but we are waiting for a postmortem of what happened. Meanwhile, we have opened two murder cases to investigate the deaths. We are pleading with the public to come forward if they have any information about the two murders," said Sedibe.
