#YouthDay - When I open my eyes in the morning, I find myself thinking about a South Africa where evil has been abolished.

I dream of a better South Africa, where poverty is a thing of the past and racism is destroyed. The fear of South Africa not being able to flourish sits at the back of my mind like a nightmare.

My biggest fear is seeing us, as the youth of our country, being enslaved by gangsterism, drug abuse, sexual abuse and teenage pregnancy while we are still children ourselves.

I fear seeing them consumed by crime and rejecting each other because of the colour of their skin.

What about our leaders? Are they not supposed to be our examples? How can we be the leaders of tomorrow if our leavers cannot even lead our country properly? Where are the days when it took a community to raise a child?

The things I love about South Africa has to be its nature. Our diverse animal and plant life is something we should really protect.

The natural beauty of South Africa is something that we should admire. The hospitality of South Africa is very unique. The kindness of South Africans is really heart-warming – something we take for granted.

Another amazing thing that makes me a proudly South African youth is seeing how the youth embrace their talents and how we, in South Africa, have such a diverse country, full of different people and traditions, something that many country do not have.

So let us as youth stand together, unite and make a difference in this country, which we call home and the “rainbow nation” - let us grow into the leaders of tomorrow.
