Durban – The Zuma family has distanced itself from a Durban beach party it apparently organised and which was scheduled to take place on Valentine’s Day.

According to a poster circulating on social media, revellers are invited to join the family at the Amanxamalala Beach Front Party with the #Izingane zeStates (children of the state), scheduled to take place on February 14.

Nxamalala is the Zuma clan name.

According to the poster, the bash is being organised by BJ Zuma and Mpume Zuma. The dress code is red and white.

Tickets cost R100 and it was scheduled to start at 10:00.

A source close to the family said they had no knowledge of the party and had never met to discuss it.

“We don’t know who these people are and who is doing this. This is a malicious attempt drag the Zuma name down and these people should be handed over to law enforcement agencies,” she said.

President Jacob Zuma’s son, Edward, said the family distanced itself from the event and would like the perpetrators to be arrested.

“We have nothing to do with this, it's definitely fake,” he said.

The organisers could not immediately be reached for comment.
