Johannesburg - President Jacob Zuma will on Wednesday travel to Lyon, France, to co-chair the launch of the UN’s high level commission on Health Employment and Economic growth, the Presidency said.

Zuma would be chairing the commission with French president Francois Hollande, spokesperson Bongani Majola said on Sunday.

The aim of the commission was to among others, propose measures that would contribute to global inclusive economic growth, create decent jobs, achieve Universal Health Coverage as well as to complement various global development efforts which have been set out by the international community.

"The implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development forms the basis of the Commission’s work," Majola said.

"It also speaks to the implementation of the 2063 Agenda of the African Union and South Africa’s own National Development Plan."

Zuma would be accompanied by International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane as well as Department of Health Director General Precious Matsoso, who is currently the chairperson of the World Health Organisation’s executive board.
