Oscar tweets for first time in 5 months

Cape Town - Twitter is buzzing after Oscar Pistorius took to the social network sit for the first time since 14 February 2014 - exactly a year after he killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

He says it was an accident, the State says murder.

On Sunday he tweeted three times. One of the tweets was from the Bible, Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.

Another tweet shows him in various pictures with children.

His last tweet was an excerpt from Man's Search for Meaning, the famous Holocaust memoir by Viktor Frankl.

Twitter was abuzz with people either defending Oscar, or lambasting him for tweeting. Here are some of the tweets from the community:
