Johannesburg - The past year has been an "eventful" one for the ANC and for all South Africans, the ANC said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Jackson Mthembu cited April's national election and appointment of a new Cabinet as major events of the year.
He added that despite the global economic downturn the ANC would not change its commitment to service delivery or the creation of job opportunities.
"As we prepare to enter into the New Year, our thoughts are with the thousands of our people who lost their jobs as a result of the economic down turn," said Mthembu.
"We are nonetheless confident that the improvement in the economic climate will also translate into the creation of job opportunities for all our people, including those who lost their jobs."
Mthembu said that next yearPparliament would pass legislation to fight crime and corruption.
