Cape Town - Several ANC parliamentary vacancies created by the mass resignation of Cabinet ministers following former president Thabo Mbeki's recall, will be filled on Tuesday, the party's Chief Whip Mnyamezile Booi said.
Briefing the media at Parliament, Booi said seven MPs would be sworn in.
"Our decision to move swiftly in filling these vacancies is informed by our endeavour to ensure that the ability of the organisation to deliver on its outstanding tasks before the end of the third term of Parliament remains unaffected," he said.
The seven MPs who will be sworn by the Speaker of the National Assembly Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde are: Enoch Godongwana, who replaces former public service and administration minister Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi; Doris Skhosana, who replaces former deputy foreign affairs minister Aziz Pahad; Thandile Sunduza, who replaces former defence minister Mosiuoa Lekota; Papi Moloto, who replaces former public works minister Thoko Didiza; Bob Mabaso, who replaces Sindisiwe Rwexana; Joyce Moloi-Moropa, who replaces former public enterprises minister Alec Erwin and Lucky Kgabi, who replaces Kgalema Motlanthe.
