Nelspruit - Mpumalanga Premier, Ndaweni Mahlangu, put an ultimatum to a traditional leader after the man made snide comments about a car that Mahlangu and the provincial authority donated to the traditional authority.
Chief Tikhontele Dlamini of LoMshiyo called the car a "skorokoro" (useless car that only works now and then) and said it was an attempt by the ANC to bribe traditional leaders.
However, Dlamini recently took possession of the car.
Mahlangu sent a letter to Dlamini on Tuesday in which he poses questions, to which he wants answers within 21 days, to clear up "any misconceptions".
Mahlangu personally visited Mpumalanga's traditional leaders recently to hand over the vehicles. The goal was apparently to allow these authorities to deliver more effective government services in rural areas.
A total of 54 public servants were relocated to these areas to assist with service delivery.
Among the things the premier wants to know from Dlamini is whether he is deliberately refusing government intervention to improve service delivery.
If this is the case, he wants to know whether Dlamini will also refuse his monthly salary of R7 500 and his annual allowance of R20 000.
He said this was also part of government intervention to improve service delivery.
