ANC: DA like a naked emperor

2012-08-06 14:37

Cape Town - The DA's economic strategy in the Western Cape must be questioned, ANC provincial legislature member Max Ozinsky said on Monday.

"Increasingly, the DA stands like a naked emperor, with its head and hands empty, in front of the people of the Western Cape," he said.

"If the Western Cape is an example of what DA economic policy offers, workers should be very worried."

Ozinsky said the recently released Quarterly Labour Force Survey showed a 1.7% decline in employment in the Western Cape between the first and second quarters of this year.

However, the national employment rate recorded a 0.2% increase in the same period, he said.

"This jobless growth which [Premier Helen] Zille has brought to Cape Town and the Western Cape, is a key feature internationally of the kind of economic policies favoured by big business and formulated by the DA."

Western Cape economic development MEC Alan Winde said on Monday the decline in jobs was largely felt in the agricultural sector, which was seasonal.

"A total of 33 000 jobs were added to the Western Cape economy in quarter one and 25 000 lost in quarter two. This happens every year due to the seasonal nature of the agricultural sector."

The province's unemployment rate of 23.2% was still lower than the national average of 24.9%, he said.
"This is not enough, but it shows we are moving in the right direction."

The MEC said job creation would improve only when impediments in the labour market were removed.

"Until such time as there is recognition that it is business that creates jobs rather than reliance on the public sector alone to do so, one is unlikely to see the kind of job creation needed to reduce unemployment meaningfully."

So typical of ANC trying to shift focus away from their pitiful performance in creating the 5 million jobs they undertook to do. Had they checked the reason for this decline maybe they would have not raised this matter which now leaves egg on their face.

  • oistar.tutu - 2012-08-06 14:48

Max ozinsky: easy to take figures and assume what you want from them. But the Western Cape is much more seasonal than the rest of the country - in winter there are less agricultural jobs and tourism jobs. Clearly, Ozinsky, if you cannot factor in local conditions into your arguments then you are not fit to be in any position to criticise. In other words, Max Ozinsky, shut up because your slip is showing

      rontheogre - 2012-08-06 16:39

What the twit also failed to mention is the escalation in people from the Eastern Cape flocking to the Cape at the rate of 17 000 plus a MONTH. With the population of CT estimated to be 2,9 million in 2011, that means the population in CT grows by 0.59% per month, all of which have no work or place to stay.

  • nigel.vanysendyk - 2012-08-06 14:54

you (the ANC) are increasing standing around like a bunch of naked ignorant corrupt losers, until you can deliver schoolbooks Max, SHUT THE F***CK UP

  • aspruyt - 2012-08-06 14:57

Pot calling the kettle 'black' =)

  • elsbeth.verhoeven - 2012-08-06 14:58

max ozinsky rather keep quiet as you do not know how to do maths

  • brettcch - 2012-08-06 15:00

It must also be borne in mind that the ANC's extended public works (and other infrastructure) programs are being used to subsidise both jobs and elections. Strictly speaking, if the ANC can only muster 0.2% growth elsewhere with this type of funding perhaps the fiscus is best entrusted to someone else?

  • Tony Lapson - 2012-08-06 15:01

Lol, ANC and their fear tactics. Here, once again, we get presented no facts by the ANC, yet workers must be "worried" about something for some reason.

  • ralph.thornley - 2012-08-06 15:01

If you are happy with crime, corruption, rape, hooliganism, civil terrorism, strikes, muggings, murder, nepotism, and a host of other things that go to build such a happy country then vote to keep in power those in power.

  • peter.jefferies.90 - 2012-08-06 15:02

FFS the ANC are pathetic!!! Why don't you focus on everything that is wrong in areas that you have control over instead of worring about the only province that is actually working!! Max Ozinsky you win the Monday Stupid prize!!

      alan.gernet - 2012-08-06 15:09

and the Tuesday.. and the Wednesday.....

  • vernon.samuel.7 - 2012-08-06 15:07

I don't understand all the anger against the ANC here. They are the official opposition in the Western Cape. It is their job to keep questioning the DA and keeping them honest. The WC branch of the ANC cannot answer for the incompetence of the other ANC provincial branches. The ANC made an allegation and the DA responded with a fairly reasonable explanation. That is democracy at work people. Let's not be blinkered by our hatred for the ruling party. If the DA were not kept honest, they may well end up like the ANC. Bottom line - do not trust politicians - no matter their affiliation.

      jarryd.fitschen - 2012-08-06 20:45

You're right, to an extent....Sure, democracy works when oppositions keep each other on their toes. As to why people are displeased is another issue. The ANC whip interpreted these statistics to their own means and it is so transparent and groundless. It's just populist foot stamping and shouting.

  • mark.haupt.31 - 2012-08-06 15:08

The cANCer couldn't create an environment for jobs to be created in if their lives depended on it. They can't even provide books for schools. All they are actually capable of is taking money from taxpayers, spending it on parties and bling and denying reality. Just another liberation movement with no vision, no future and no hope.

      alan.gernet - 2012-08-06 15:11

Well ... one thing they succeed at is procreation, the very thing that is causing their demise as well as that of SA.

  • templar.known - 2012-08-06 15:11

Max, What's up with education? What's the story with the health industry? Why is Limpopo and the Eastern Cape bankrupt? Where's the R5Bbill of tax money that disappeared? What did the Defence Department spend the R99 Bill on? How come 90% of ANC munucipalities failed the National Audit? (Western Cape passed!) You go first, then the DA will answer your question.

      alan.gernet - 2012-08-06 15:15

Spot on! Anybody see Carte Blanche, and the Health Crisis in E.Cape? That just tells the story of where the anc has got SA headed. Meanwhile, in FATCATLAND.... sunny skies

  • JAbu.R15 - 2012-08-06 15:11

CAnt believe the party I used to love and voted for has been decreased to this pathetic excuse of a political party. fact is, any municipality under the DA is doing great. so please can ANC concentrate on delievering on their promises to our people and stop wasting energy on the DA

  • fanie.viljoen.73 - 2012-08-06 15:12

What about the missing billions? We have seen the ANC's economic strategy, not so impressive! Actually, it is still not working! How many jobs would have been created? How many did we loose?

      alan.gernet - 2012-08-06 15:16

Fact is that the Western Cape is a REAL thorn in the side for the looting oops I mean ruling party

  • jason.croxford.56 - 2012-08-06 15:18

Unemployment is a national issue and as the ANC government has not succeeded in that area perhaps it is easier to find some one else to blame.

      alan.gernet - 2012-08-06 15:20

      yeah - I nominate Verwoerd!

      devon.riley.52 - 2012-08-06 15:37

The ANC as the ruling party has much more power to do something about it than the DA, and it is the ANC alliance, especially Cosatu that's hindering job growth in SA, and are most to blame

  • maseratifittipaldi - 2012-08-06 15:36

The poor ANC is trying everything. They want to drag the WC down as far as they did the other provinces. Shame.

  • yuu.mee.351 - 2012-08-06 15:37

Both this DA's wage subsidy and ANCs job seekers grant show how both Zille and Zuma have no symphaty for the poor, with their labour brokers bending the ppl on the ground the otherone is busy pocketing all the state's money while the otherone fights to get on top and do samething, what a bunch of looseheads, the person who will lead SA to a right direction is yet to be born I tell you, all DA do is only complain, waste money taking the ANC. Clowns to court at the end of the day no one arrested, nxa!

      peter.jeffrey.581 - 2012-08-06 15:55

  • darryl.maze1 - 2012-08-06 15:53

The ANC has got nothing else better to do than do bad mouth the DA. They do it because they know the DA is there biggest threat. The ANC is just digging there grave deeper. The ANC has the highest percentage of corrupt ministers. Billions of rands have gone into the back pockets of ANC politicians and into corrupt tenders. The education is in shambles in all the ANC run provinces, our railway sysytems are non existant. The ANC are out to divide SA. Everytime they mess up the first thing they do is blame apartheid, never themselves. Tell me of one minister who has stood up and admitted he has done wrong and step down...........none. No matter how much the ANC bad mouth the DA you just gotta look at the Western Cape. Audit free, roads maintained, great service delivery and just a really well run province. ANC 8 provinces and all in the billion rand debt, need I say more.

  • freddie.jones.58367 - 2012-08-06 15:53

What about all of the 'economic refugee's' moving from the E Cape to the W Cape? These improve the E Cape unemployment figures at the expense of the W Cape.

  • anri.tredoux - 2012-08-06 16:02

Stop looking at everything everybody else is doing wrong and start fixing your own problems. ANC your days are counted and you know this, you will lose your power. So now with this in your minds you are trying to destroy what is left of this country. Because you have the mentality of a brainless person who believes if 'I can't have something no one else will'.. Please grow up and step down you are making a fool of yourself..

  • TdJ01 - 2012-08-06 16:07

How rich coming from a member of the ruling party that has to be forced by law to employ teachers in the Eastern Cape. Viva ANC viva let mediocrity rule!!

  • ana.curcic - 2012-08-06 16:26

THE 'MOSTEST' IDIOCY YET TO COME OUT OF cANCer...Rest assure there is plenty to come. Let's not even print this rubish.

  • velvybokov - 2012-08-06 17:28

The only party that has a naked emperor is the ANC. With more than one wife and corruption rampant and indecent in just about every department... It is quite clear to me who is nakedly found wanting. The only clothing that the ANC use are lies to hide their clearly tainted image.

  • philip.buys.1 - 2012-08-06 17:45

Not as naked as the Anc.

  • emile.vanrayner.7 - 2012-08-06 18:13

i like how the DA always answers the ANC's accusations with stone cold facts and a calm attitude. i suggest people THINK... really THINK before you vote next time. vote for the people who are working to give you what you want from your government. if that is what the ANC does for you then vote for them. dont vote for them just because you are black and hellen zille is not. thats racism too

  • alf.pop - 2012-08-06 22:39
