ANC: Dogs get more attention than people

2012-08-06 16:31

Cape Town - Dogs in the Western Cape get more attention than people in poor communities, the provincial ANC said on Monday.

African National Congress Western Cape secretary Songezo Mjongile said provincial Premier Helen Zille and Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille turned a blind eye to those in need in the province.

He said that if they were genuine about people's concerns, they would have addressed the communities "in the same way they do when there are concerns about dogs that bark at night in Constantia".

"They jump and call all of these people to speak about their issues. They don't give our communities the same attention."

Delivery protest violence condemned

Mjongile was speaking to reporters at the ANC's offices in the provincial legislature.

The ANC's provincial executive council (PEC) condemned the recent violence in service delivery protests, including the stoning of a Golden Arrow bus in Khayelitsha on Friday.

It called on community leaders to discourage violence and damage associated with the protests, as it gave room to "opportunistic elements" which tried to "demonise" legitimate demands.

The party and its youth league denied any involvement in the attack on the bus.

The stoning of the bus on Friday caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which crashed through a road barrier, ploughing into shacks and killed the driver, Sandile Hoko. Five people, including a child, were injured.

"The real reason why people ended up in that situation is because of the frustration that our communities are going through, that officials treat them with disdain," Mjongile said.

"The reason why people end up taking this desperate action is because they are not getting a sympathetic ear from government."

Attack followed ANCYL threats - Zille

On Sunday, Zille and De Lille said the attack followed threats by the ANCYL to make Cape Town "ungovernable" and to "bring Cape Town to its knees".

The ANCYL had threatened to prevent "any and all Golden Arrow buses and taxis from operating".
They said the ANCYL should be held accountable for this sequence of events.

A R50 000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Criminal charges of intimidation were laid against the ANCYL by the city and the province on Wednesday.

"We await the outcome of the investigation of the criminal charges we have laid against the ANCYL and will closely monitor any other action that follows from this investigation," said Zille and De Lille.

However, the ANC in the province said "ungovernable" simply meant that city officials would be prevented from doing their jobs, for example, by blockading the road in front of the legislature.

"It means there won't be movement in the city because there are people sitting on the road."

Now the ANC is slinging Balderdash!

      michael.vanrheenen.9 - 2012-08-06 16:40

Oh please Songezo Mjongile. What on earth would you know?! She has done more for the poor people than the whole of the ANC put together. Your senseless attacks on our Madam is only proving your insecurity further! You gonna get nailed in the coming elections! Get your act straight before pointing fingers to others!!!

      scouter.fourone - 2012-08-06 16:55

Let alone students without Text Books, Mjongile ... you clearly have a focus difficulty.

      oom.koos.7 - 2012-08-06 17:04

Now the ANC really are scratching the bottom of the b@ll$h!t barrel..my word but they are desperate...FOOLS..!!

      carol.vanniekerk.3 - 2012-08-06 17:25

Sounds more as if the ANC are barking up the wrong tree!

      scouter.fourone - 2012-08-06 17:29

Ummmm Victor - I've noticed that you are quick to tell everyone that you have been educated outside of SA. That was a wise choice, all things considered and I congratulate you - we expect you now to stand up for the rights of SA children and to give selflessly of yourself. You do apparently have all the answers, after all. The children do need a solution when they have no text book to read.

      thandiwe.ngema.71 - 2012-08-06 18:39

The ANC is ridiculous to suggest this - they are the ones that have ignored the poor with their rubbish service delivery. They take all of the public sector money and abuse it! The ANC must be beaten in the next election - anyone who votes for them votes for corruption, keeping the poor poor, if you vote for the ANC you are voting for a poor education for children. I used to vote ANC but NEVER AGAIN. They are trying to divide us and obviously hate Madiba's legacy.. Spread the word... Vote for ANYONE else - don't tell people which of the other parties as they will all be better than the divisive, divided, money-grabbing, fat-cat ANC!!

      scouter.fourone - 2012-08-06 18:39

Victor, if I really thought you were who you are trying to pass your self off to be - I would take you on. Your tempting argument is so obvious however, that you are not worth the effort - please give one or two of us some credit for possessing an intellect that is very clearly greater than yours.

      brett.bruce.121 - 2012-08-06 19:22

@victor.turdmanure how about the fact that the ANC has already stolen R5000 000 000 (5 billion rand) this year from taxpayers?

      james.m.wood.773 - 2012-08-06 20:05

However, the ANC in the province said "ungovernable" simply meant that city officials would be prevented from doing their jobs, for example, by blockading the road in front of the legislature so they want the mayor and Hellen to work by preventing them from working? this is the way of the ANCan'ts

      deabreu - 2012-08-07 07:50

It always amazes me how racists like victor.tamaranui enjoy living in their fantasy world. The ANC need bitter uneducated racists like this to win elections.

      backstabber.adder - 2012-08-07 17:30

Victor.Tamaranui sounds an awful lot like Cape Maori. You have to wonder about an individual putting Sybil with the 17 personalities to shame. Lower down: "I also acknowledge successes hence I enjoy my life in RSA." He sounds more like a tourist than a resident, does't he? Hehehehe...

      fussed.anderson - 2012-08-08 09:25

      Dogs are loyal

      christopher.saint.3386 - 2012-08-08 10:48

Well, my dogs protect me and my family. Of course I will give them more attention than some thieving raping murderous bastards, I am also talking about the good few of these animals in the anc government.

  • carla.vittori3 - 2012-08-06 16:38

How far will they go to badmouth the DA? Where are the ANC cadres on here who keep accusing Zille of "politicking" when she points out issues with the ANC? Come on, they should all be able to call a spade a spade now - this is politicking of the highest degree

      eddy.deepfield - 2012-08-06 17:48

      johnathon.masters - 2012-08-07 21:37

I have yet to read of a case anywhere in the world, where a male dog rapes its very young.

  • Chumscrubber1 - 2012-08-06 16:38

Not only disgusting attitude, but also brain dead. What has this ANC creature turned into, its hard to believe they have managed to reach such depths. Hard to believe ... eish.

      johnathon.masters - 2012-08-08 10:50

I have yet to read of a case anywhere in the world, where a male dog rapes its very young. This is in reference to a belief held by some that if you rape a very young baby, it is a cure for AIDS. The most deplorable human practise imaginable.

  • ben.louw.5 - 2012-08-06 16:41

I love it when the ANC starts with their playground insults. There is literally no better way to point out their childishness, desperation and low intellect than to just let them carry on slinging their feces around...

      BigChiefPlumbPudding - 2012-08-06 17:25

You're right, but the irony of it all is they honestly believe they're making some profound statement that will confuse everyone, whilst all they're doing is revealing how absolutely void they are of any integrity or intelligence. What a laugh. Open mouth - put foot in!!!

  • lydonmcg - 2012-08-06 16:42

What a pathetic attempt at trying to shift the focus from their own organisation's threats and acts of violence. What are we supposed to do? Get up in arms over this drivel as opposed to the stoning of a bus and the subsequent death of its driver? Nice try. If we wanted your opinion we'd have elected you into office in the Western Cape. But we didn't! So buzz off.

  • lebo.radebs - 2012-08-06 16:47

If only they practiced what they preached, then S.A. would be in a better place. They always have something to say about the D.A yet they are the ones who are ignoring the very people who put them in power, plz ANC, start by giving people better services, and after you have done that with distinction, then plz do go on pinpoint what D.A is doing wrong, but if you, yourselves cannot get it right. Then plz, plz, plz, do us all a favor & shut your big mouths up & get on with your jobs.

      nadineelvina.francis - 2012-08-07 09:39

Yes the ANC should improve the lives of those in the Provinces that they govern and show up the DA. But we all know that will never happen. Instead they try to create havoc in the Western Cape and spread miserable lies how pathetic.

  • storm.trooper.125 - 2012-08-06 16:48

have the anc ever said the same words to the rest of south africa controlled by the anc??NO THEY DIDNT.. western cape got its own problems,,but we are better off than the rest of rsa..the same anc was once controlled of the western cape and did they done something better than the DDA?? NO THEY DDNT!!

  • JHLR73 - 2012-08-06 16:48

Now I wonder how much extra attention does the people in Diepsloot or Alexandra for instance get from the ANC goverment?? I wonder how did the millions of shacks shoot up in Gauteng since 1994? I am sure it was because the ANC helped them to achieve this..

  • paul.bothma - 2012-08-06 16:51

And the ANC cares about the people, like throwing away schoolbooks for the children,Mjongile shut the fu$k up and concentrate on all your the ANC's wrongdoings.......and so i can go on and on and on with all your wrongdoings........

  • timothy.jenkin - 2012-08-06 16:52

Well killing another person at an attempt to voice yourself is inexcusable. I mean a person lost there life and the best you can do is shift the blame. I have no words to descride the ANC. Seriously, please give me one other than a swear word!

  • Cherholdt - 2012-08-06 16:54

Wow what about the whole SA that is protesting about poor service delivery, and are given houses that are worse than dog houses. But the ANC spents millions on name changes!!!!!!!!!

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-08-06 18:57

      No Victor, not transformation, degeneration.

  • suzanne.morton.980 - 2012-08-06 16:55

Can the ANC NEVER say anything positive about another party, can they never see positive in anything that isn't their idea, can they never act as part of south africa and for south africa and not just for the anc. if the anc could only behave as well as my dogs - the country may go some place!

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-08-06 18:59

Damn Victor, what are you smoking? Must be worth a fortune.. mmm maybe not but your logic is priceless.

      azande.futhi - 2012-08-06 17:56

Yes we do. At least now you know that DA is failing its people from the "attention seeking stunt" by ANC. You need to pay your R12 for mrmbership to ANC.

      koos.vandermerwe.75 - 2012-08-06 19:18

Let me guess Victor, you still think that SA is the gateway to Africa for the rest of the world? Hahahahaha priceless! Ask you BRICS friends and take a long HARD look at the n4 my friend. Even your government knows what is coming.

  • noa.pummer - 2012-08-06 16:56

      christian.helberg - 2012-08-07 06:39

You hit the nail on the head, Peter! That is axactly what they are doing, they want sheep not thinkers

  • hc12345 - 2012-08-06 17:08

Why don't you yap about the other 8 provinces that are falling apart due to ANC incapability of doing anything right.

  • jeremy.forbes.1293 - 2012-08-06 17:10

Mrs Zille it is not enough to blame ANC political interference for the service delivery protest during the past few days. You and your Party need to be seen to be doing so much more than this. You need to be seen to be alleviating poverty, your jobs plan is excellent as a national strategy, however on the home front you need to be able to demonstrate to the whole country and particularly the poor what can and will be done once the DA is in power. Start almost immediately by building thousands of homes to replace the shacks, even if you had to put the City into debt. Get the banks involved and sell these houses for say R2000 each so that new homeowners believe and understand that they have a saleable asset. To say nothing about the advantage of pulling formerly excluded people into civic society and into the mainstream economy. If you are able to do this, none of these new home owners would again vote for the ANC and above all you would have an incredible example to point the country towards to show what can be achieved in a well-run province and can state that should you be elected as the government in the 2014 elections this is what you will do in other provinces.

      bernard.ingram - 2012-08-06 17:17

Yeah jeremia, violence is the answer, hey?

      tasmee.hylkema - 2012-08-06 20:24

Victor, you quick to point out the service delivery protests in the WC, I am really interested in hearing what you think about service delivery protests throughout the rest of the country especially over the past few years, almost on a daily basis. How does the ANC look itself in the mirror every day when its failures are much much larger than any two parties put together? You also dont comment how shocking it is that billions have been stolen by ANC members? I dont hear a word about the fact that basic education is still not possible after 18 years? I have followed your comments through the various threads and I must speak out here. You are utterly and absolutely prejudiced and brainwashed. Your comments are a clear indication that you lack the maturity to accept that things are not right in this country and the blame lies squarely at the feet of the ANC!!

  • bernard.ingram - 2012-08-06 17:13

There is no cure for animalistic behaviour. The dogs stoned a bus, almost killing innocent children. Now the dogs are getting attention. Just like the ANC spoke about. Join the Animal Nepotism Cult for a night in the bush. F.... losers!

A very desperate ANC "leadership" in the Western Cape in what is an election year for the party. I've heard nothing intelligent at all from them other than divisive, blaming politics of old. I wonder which faction they belong to?

  • andrew.arnesen - 2012-08-06 17:22

I am always amused to hear the ANC bitching and moaning about the Western Cape. I wish they could hear their own words as applied to other provinces and districts... They are such hypocrites it isn't even funny! They couldn't organize a piss up in a brewery and yet they condemn the DA?? Reality politics is so much more funny than anything on TV!

Yes and that because our dogs have earned our respect. How silly can the ANC be - are they demanding our respect now?

  • kevin.kramer111 - 2012-08-06 17:25

Much like a child who cannot get its' way, the ANC now seeks to deflect attention from it's myriad of failures, by casting aspersions on the DA. It takes time for a child to mature and grow, so we have to be patient...I'm afraid that we are probably looking at a minimum of 10 years, before they will be in a position to exercise responsibility...and act as adults...
