ANC factions blamed for protests

2012-08-12 14:33

Johannesburg - ANC factions are behind some service delivery protests, according to new research, City Press reported on Sunday.

The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation and Wits University analysed protest hotspots in Gauteng and Mpumalanga.

According to report based on the research, "The Smoke That Calls", ANC members played a leading role in all protests.

In one case study "several informants maintained that the group was formed by the mayor to support her in her fallout with the council speaker".

Some had joined to fight corruption, others hoped for jobs, while still others had been aggrieved because their access to tenders had dried up.

In another case, the eruption of protests was linked to divisions within the town council. The speaker had apparently fed confidential information to protest organisers in order to undermine the mayor, the weekly reported.

No towns were named in the report.

    LOL, No comment!

      Revelgen - 2012-08-12 15:00

Yes, because the ANC delivers rotten service, they try to stir up protests against those who do deliver. WC a case in point. A shameful mentality, and one to be despised by all thinking voters.

      hahahaha

      wesley.nel.5 - 2012-08-12 15:11

Not suprised, all the ANC is about is "what can I get from it"

      sharon.erwin.96 - 2012-08-12 16:12

How wonderful! Once again the ANC is the helpless victim. The protests have nothing at alll to do with dreadful service delivery or corruption merely rogue elements within the party. Was the report presented all nicely tied up with a ribbon and a bow?

      rbphiri - 2012-08-12 16:36

"ANC factions are behind some service delivery protests, according to new research". That research was a waste of money, this is clearly obvious. It's like saying according to research a donkey is an ass. But hopefully this research may shed some light and a sense of intelligence to some voters, in order for them to exercise their democratic rights logically without fear of succumbing to the bribery of a free t-shirt and a bucket of chicken.

The ANC are always behind any corruption in this country. Nothing new

  • vernon.samuel.7 - 2012-08-12 14:41

I guess the ANC's drive to a million members in recent years has come back to bite them. They are so keen to prove their strength in numbers that they sign up any trash off the streets.

  • Billy - 2012-08-12 14:41

  • andre.diedricks.3 - 2012-08-12 14:58

      jeffrey.d.walker.9 - 2012-08-12 17:59

The point of the media is to let this be known overseas, so they can be aware of what's going on here, we who live here are VERY aware of what they up to.

Congratulations ANC - this article summarises your defeat in the 2014 elections. Factionalism will destroy you and your current incompetent government.

  • paharms - 2012-08-12 15:21

All government is fuelled by greed and self service! So sad, and the poor who admired and depended upon them are driven deeper into the mire. The question is....how long before they burn the country down?

  • mark.haupt.31 - 2012-08-12 15:23

    Nah, get out of it

The ungovernable governed by the ungovernablest(sic)! Is it the tail wagging the jackal or the jackal wagging the tail? Who cares? It's still a jackal.

  • gideon.keyser - 2012-08-12 15:42

the anc is jealous of the western cape, so now they want to ruin it too

  • sefako.mokgalaka - 2012-08-12 15:47

ANC should stop awarding positions to employees but reward employees for service effectively rendered. Currently the contribution of government employees and departments does not even equal the output. They have become a burden to the general public. This results in no or less delivery of services. They expect to become office millionaires.

The tendering system should reviewed or abolished as it is the reason behind factionilism. When 2 elephants fight....

  • solardrius.velandro - 2012-08-12 16:48

    ANC=ret@rds

  • johanna.vandokkum - 2012-08-12 19:54

This is just another ANC-lie. Zuma has always been and will always be the Enforcer, ever since his reign of terror as MK-enforcer at Camp Quatro during the exile. If there are riots 'caused by ANC-factions' they are approved by the Great Enforcer himself. I don't for one moment believe that this would ever be allowed to get out of control as it now 'appears to be'

  • emile.vanrayner.7 - 2012-08-12 22:08

did not need research for this. they should instead focus on finding definitive evidence on the individuals involved. we cant jail the ANC as a political party. we need to take out the individuals that are causing the riots

  • dannymothilall.danny - 2012-08-13 09:13

The ANC is so successful in destroying anything and everything so indeed the ANC is always successful and they will never fail in their mission of destruction and devastation even if it is at the cost of all the people of South Africa.[Successes thus far];- Stealing tax money belonging to the public,Consuming of tax money in a glutinous destructive rage.A dillusion rage by the ANC filling their own pockets whilst the poorest of the poor is suffering.Trying to turn South Africa into a marxist-leninist-communist state. The SOS signal of distress is soundind louder and if RESCUE does not come soon enough then it is sad to say that we are fast approaching to another ZIMBABWE.
