Bloemfontein - The ANC's national elective conference had robust and constructive debates on policies, President Jacob Zuma said on Thursday.

"The culture of internal debates of the movement became visible," Zuma said in his closing address in Mangaung in the Free State.

"We have taken resolutions which will renew and transform the organisation."

Zuma said the priority was to draw up a clear plan on how to implement its policies. The plan was expected to be ready early next year.

"We need to be working on implementing our policies. We can't do anything else," he said.

Zuma said the ANC's leagues also had to work on programmes of action based on the resolutions taken at the conference.
