ANC has failed Mpumalanga, DA says

2012-05-08 17:41

Johannesburg - The Blue Drop drinking water report proved the failure of the ANC's "jobs for pals" policy in Mpumalanga, the Democratic Alliance said on Tuesday.

"Of the 18 local municipalities in our province, 10 languish on the bottom half of the performance scale, with four among [the] 10 lowest scoring municipalities," provincial Chief Whip James Masango said.

The report, which covers the period January to December last year, showed the number of municipalities awarded Blue Drop status had risen significantly, from 66 in the 2011 report, to 98.

The latest Blue Drop report, a national assessment of drinking water quality, involved an audit of 153 local, district and metropolitan municipalities. This time it included nearly all 931 plants in the country's water system.

"When one considers the criteria, it becomes apparent that most municipalities do not have the necessary skills and competencies to manage water delivery to their residents," said Masango.

The DA said it was not surprised to find that the Nkomazi, Albert Luthuli, Thaba Chweu and Bushbuckridge municipalities were ranked the lowest in the country.

This cANCer continues to threaten the whole nation not just on province. They had to practice somewhere. And unless you stop them DA they will come your way too.

      Stewart - 2012-05-08 18:17

      UyabulelaJ - 2012-05-08 18:20

i hate DA' opotunistic mentality why cant they have programes outside criticising the ANC. they will rule this country in hell. DA failures

      siyabonga.zondi.16 - 2012-05-08 18:25

i will say this again, DA need to be ANC to govern the country. DA numbers are against you all you can do is to continue pointing fingers, its your calling embrace it

      Bomb - 2012-05-08 18:35

@Siyabonga.......its mindboggling how you anc supporters can accept such failure. Your government cannot provide you with safe drinking water, and yet you accept it. Absolutely unbelievable. If that's the case, stop toy-toying and striking about service delivery.

      marnusmnorval - 2012-05-08 21:01

We all know who votes ANC, we all know who is failing SA, we all know why some vote ANC we all know it has everything to do with race.. We dont need to point fingers, if you arent smart enough to see how you are being used and abused then I guess you will always live in poverty.

      1amAlan - 2012-05-08 21:31

You hate DA opportunist mentality? So should they shut the hell up about it? Join in the R500 million rand party, embrace the spending on the R1.3 billion rand aircraft, turn a blind eye to the rampant corruption that is eating this society away, while basic services and needs are ignored? Need I say more? Do the maths buddy. It would be irresponsible and neglecting their duty to ignore it. Right now it's the mentality of the electorate that can't see exactly what is in clear sight that I worry about, especially yours. You'll keep swallowing the crap day in and day out and keep voting them in.

      Sav.Demetriou - 2012-05-08 21:41

Siyabonga & UyabulelaJ - open your eyes, can't you see what your precious ANC are doing to the country? Dodgy tenders, eTolls to fill their own pockets. Mines that are given to their relatives that fail miserably and cause all the workers to go jobless as a result. Arms deals that are covered up... Now these poor people dont even have drinking water.. blind following while the country suffers. And you bring it on your fellow citizens. Wake up.

  • Shirley - 2012-05-08 17:48

Its a pity the voters dont consider these things before they blindly make their cross!

  • Brett - 2012-05-08 17:48

The ANC should stick to the Blue Dop (Johnny Walker).

      Charles Dumbwin - 2012-05-08 17:55

And just keep walking? Oi! Give that Brett a Bells!

      Halvor - 2012-05-08 18:13

      Oh they do, they do!

  • Msika - 2012-05-08 17:53

And come 2014, the ANC will get more than 80% of votes from this province.

      Charles Dumbwin - 2012-05-08 17:58

The that province will continue to be more than 80% dysfunctional for another 5 years ...

      Piet - 2012-05-08 18:06

Jip weird how people can be content with the service they receive from the ANC. And as soon as the election results are out they go back to burning tyres and throwing stones due to the lack of service delivery. I admit, I am not smart enough to understand that......Have a purple Smartie Piet!

      braamc - 2012-05-08 18:08

You get what you vote for

  • colin.dovey - 2012-05-08 17:53

Chief Whip James Masango....should use his whip - on the ANC Cadres

  • Cassandra Eileen Olivier - 2012-05-08 18:04

If the DA is seeing the ANC failing in certain ares why help the people of the area instead of pointing fingers

      Stewart - 2012-05-08 18:12

Reap what you sow. Did they not vote anc

      siyabonga.zondi.16 - 2012-05-08 18:18

they are an opposition party their duty is to point and let the ruling party fix

      Bomb - 2012-05-08 18:39

@Siyabonga.......the opposition have been pointing for 18 years, but there's been no fixing............why must the DA do the ANC's work? Reap what you sow!

      Patrick - 2012-05-08 18:47

"If the DA is seeing the ANC failing in certain ares why help the people of the area instead of pointing fingers" - Firstly, where pray tell will they get the funds to help these people? The ANC run government will not assign capital to its' opposition to fix the problems it has created. Secondly, to fix these issues the entire water infrastructure will have to be rebuilt, that's the responsibility of the governing party, ie the ANC, according to the constitution the DA has no jurisdiction there and even if they did want to help, it'd have to be signed off by the ANC as it would affect the municipality's departments.

      Tommy - 2012-05-08 19:02

Cassandra - do you pay taxes? If so, then you will know a bit how the Government money allocating system works. For the DA to fix this, they will have to either make use of private funding or apply to Government for funding - and if you think about it, why would you give money to your opposition to make you look bad.

  • Piet - 2012-05-08 18:04

No DA, the ANC has not failed in Mpumalanga. The ANC just did what it can do best. The people of Mpumalanga failed. And unfortunatly they will fail again come 2014.

  • braamc - 2012-05-08 18:07

Good for nothing. I hoping for the day they get to lazy to steal, but that also not happening.

  • wehan.victor - 2012-05-08 18:08

      Gladstone - 2012-05-08 18:51

No my brother, I'm here in the Western Cape. The whites

      richard.fahrenfort - 2012-05-09 10:07

I'm also here in the Cape. The roads are clean. Potholes are a memory. The water is clean. Our provincial government didnt force tolls on us. Our kids are not running to neighboring provinces to go to their schools. The audits are clean. The municipality responds fast (A water pipe burst round the corner from me on a Saturday night and the dept was there in 20 mins...on a Saturday night nogal!) Almost everything i expect from a provincial government happens. Best vote I've ever made.

      bigboy.ernest - 2012-05-09 11:01

they r gud in pointi fingers dtz wat DA is hre 4 2 put each n evry blame on blacks.

  • Judith - 2012-05-08 18:17

The Free State is a complete failure - children play alongside sewerage that spews untreated from broken treatment plants in Virginia, Welkom, Carltonville, Allenridge and Odendaalsrus. The water in that area tastes very strange and is probably not potable

  • Motho - 2012-05-08 18:18

    lol

  • Ayanda Yaya Khumalo - 2012-05-08 18:20

lol come 2014 anc will win this province again........

      Julio - 2012-05-08 18:30

The sad thing is that you're probably right.

      Bomb - 2012-05-08 18:44

sad how you will accept dirty water, stinking sewerage, broken roads, pathetic healthcare, dilapidated schools and houses, and massive corruption

  • georgebrightons - 2012-05-08 18:24

The Municipalities under ANC are focusing on the previously disadvantaged. The ANC has improved in the rural areas, 90% have water and sanitation, roads, houses and electricity. Gone are those days for special treatment of one race than others. Mpumalanga is a tourist destination and all international tourists promises to come back. What DA is complaining about is totally invalid.

      Stewart - 2012-05-08 18:27

      Not so bright George

      Patrick - 2012-05-08 18:50

"90% have water and sanitation, roads, houses and electricity." Dude, have you been to these rural areas? Seriously, get off your ass and look around them, running water, electricity, roads? Lol, whatever you've been smoking must be pretty good.

      Tommy - 2012-05-08 18:57

Mmmm...then why are the people toy-toying about service delivery always previously disadvanced people - must be the 10% in rural areas - only thing is, those people are not from rural areas.

      Piet - 2012-05-08 19:04

George, blue is back. Have a blue smartie!

      sanet.oelofse - 2012-05-08 19:22

They have done it so efficiently that they have combined water and sanitation, with just the turn of a tap, why isn't the rest of the world doing it?

      bigboy.ernest - 2012-05-09 10:56

I'M 4RM BBR MPUMALANGA I DN'T HAVE EVRY THNG BT I GOT SMTHNG SO I THNK ANC IS TRYING.

      Daan - 2012-06-08 13:17

Shame. You must be visually impaired, hard of hearing.....sorry, you will not understand decent english. JY IS FLIPPIN DOM. GAAN SIT IN DIE HOEK EN HOU JOU BEK.

  • Kevin - 2012-05-08 18:27

Place any incompetent person or persons in any position and thats what you get - failure. Remebering the ANC alliance partner COSATU has also ensured that 'workers' who are lazy, do not perform and do not have the required skills are still given employment and pay increases every year...!!

  • sifiso.mkasi - 2012-05-08 18:28

we all fail something some how tht doesnt mean they gave up.

      Bomb - 2012-05-08 18:46

hey sifiso, here by us in the free state, everything has been steadily declining for the last 18 years, even in the rural areas. do yourself a favour and go have a look what the eastern cape looks like in the rural areas.

      Daan - 2012-06-08 13:20

Hey dude. They might as well announce that they have given up. All their actions indicate that they have NO IDEA.

  • Mario Bisogno - 2012-05-08 18:28

Vote for da and enjoy your tax money vote ANC and watch them enjoy your tax money .

      berni.venter - 2012-05-08 21:47

Mario, can I print that on a T shirt?

  • Julio - 2012-05-08 18:40

The tax paying population is becoming immune to all these news of government/ANC ineptitude, fraud, corruption, nepotism, lies and more lies. The masses will protest, toy toy, burn down libraries, etc. to show their anger at the lack of service delivery, but come election time who are they going to vote for? They will vote for the very same useless party who failed them in the first place. Please someone explain this logic to me.

      phonis9 - 2012-05-09 10:35

because the anc("AFRICAN national CONFUSION")actually hand out R100 notes at ellections for people to vote for them,go figure.....

  • evidence.makgakga - 2012-05-08 18:47

I never had faith in ANC anyways! T'is not a shock for me as to say! #nufSaid

  • Sechaba30 - 2012-05-08 19:26

I personally experienced bad service in Mpumalanga, the water was out for four days without any notice. ANC sucks that side.

      Piet - 2012-05-08 19:59

      Do yo vote for them?

  • Nicky van der Vlies - 2012-05-08 19:53

uhm just mp i think all over

  • Dooie - 2012-05-08 19:58

The ANC has fialed South Africa if you ask me. Corruption all around the table. How many officials did they mention the other day who are suspended for years already and still being paid. Wasting money on crap like the "maddam" who did not want her hand bag checked at the airport costing the tax payer more than R250k. These lunatics keep on throwing money at everything while their own people are starving with no jobs. No DA. The ANC has failed South Africa....

  • Diego - 2012-05-08 20:07

so let me get this the number on municipalities that made the blue drop is higher than before and this clown still blames the ANC. ya if you hate someone it doesn't matter what they do they'll always be bad. Well done ANC the struggle continues. funny no one give ANC credit when they have done well

      George - 2012-05-08 21:29

      When is that?

  • Cedric Papa-Junior Kgatla - 2012-05-08 21:18

Our Anc! Our life! Atleas this is better than NATIONAL PARTY OF bOTHA...

      Piet - 2012-05-08 21:41

The Botha party merged with the ANC....idiot!

      berni.venter - 2012-05-08 22:03

Cedric, looking back has never accomplished anything except not seeing where you are going. The past belongs exactly where it is. The best indicator for future behaviour is past performance. Simply put if the corruption and incompetence is not stopped then going forward the people of South Africa are going to suffer even more! That means all of us. Don't know about you but I don't want to look into my child's eyes and tell her I did nothing to stop a select few from stealing her heritage. Surely you would like a better life for your children? This is is a question of right and wrong. Can you do the job or can't you? We all know that there are people that have been given jobs they are neither qualified nor experienced for. Like a police constable that has been promoted to Captain in the space of one year. That directly affects the community he/she serves because of the knowledge and experience that gets built up over time is completely lacking. Please have a look at the issues objectively and not through rose tinted propaganda glasses.

  • Cedric Papa-Junior Kgatla - 2012-05-08 21:22

After DA won this country all afrikaanes organisation wil come together as one,to rule with new format of apartheit...

      Piet - 2012-05-08 21:42

Jip, and we will use the ANC'S racist policies!

      berni.venter - 2012-05-08 22:06

Heard of the Information Bill Cedric? Only difference between the ANC and the old NP is the logo. The DA is the only party standing up for our right to freedom of speech!

  • sajitha.khan - 2012-05-09 07:43

Isn't time DA come with their Own new ideas? All the time they are best at opposing what ever the aNc is doing, not that they shouldn't. But the moment someone points fingers at the other person, the chances are very high that they are any better just trying to be over-smart in the mind of a listener. We really need positive impact for a better SA not a battle field for selfish politicians that works to enrich themselves at our cost.

  • creaturemabanga - 2012-05-09 08:11
