Cape Town - The ANC in the Western Cape is ready to go ahead with a march to Premier Helen Zille and Mayor Patricia de Lille’s offices, it says.

About 2 000 people will take part in the march for better housing and services in the province on Wednesday, ANC Western Cape secretary Songezo Mjongile told the Cape Times.

Zille’s office told Eyewitness News that the premier was prepared to receive a memorandum from marchers on condition that they have a permit legalising the protest.

Mjongile told the Cape Times that the ANC would bus in the protesters from various areas around the province.

The march is scheduled to start at 10:00 on Wednesday in Keizergracht Street in the CBD.

A service delivery march in Cape Town’s CBD in October last year turned violent when some of 3 500 protesters looted shops and stalls.
