Port Elizabeth - More than 100 African National Congress members appeared in court on Tuesday for illegally occupying the party's regional headquarters in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape police said.
Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said 108 people were arrested for trespassing around 23:00 on Monday.
The Herald newspaper reported that those arrested are supporters of ANC leader Jacob Zuma and that they wanted the regional executive committee, said to be supporters of President Thabo Mbeki, to vacate the premises.
The ANC's provincial leadership disbanded the committee earlier this year, but new elections are yet to be held.
The case was postponed until June 25.
The accused have all been released on warning.
