ANC membership 'not for sale'

2007-04-28 22:05
Johannesburg - Ace Magashule, the Free State ANC chair, has made a scathing attack on supporters from the Thabo Mofutsanyane district in the eastern part of the province, the SABC reported on Saturday.

Speaking at a regional conference, Magashule was referring to those who applied for an interdict in the Bloemfontein High Court on Monday to prevent the conference from taking place.

The district was one of four against which interdicts had been sought.

However, the High Court ruled that the matter was not urgent, and the conference went ahead earlier on Saturday.

Magashule called on party members to ensure that such elements were isolated.

He said there were bigger forces who were "using people who have no food on the table".

Magashule said those funding the people taking legal action against the ANC "think they can buy the party".

He said people could not go to court and demand to be members of the ANC.
