ANC salary matters confidential - party

2012-02-03 22:26

Johannesburg - The ANC in Limpopo on Friday refused to comment on claims that it had failed to pay workers their salaries, saying it could not discuss internal matters.

Provincial spokesperson Makonde Mathiva said it would be inappropriate for him to discuss the matter as it was of a confidential nature.

"The matter of salaries is a matter between the employer and the employee," said Mathiva.

Worried employees at Franse Mohlala House, the ANC's provincial headquarters in Polokwane, told the Sowetan newspaper they were not paid their salaries.

The workers, who usually get paid on the 25th of each month, were quoted as telling the newspaper that the ANC had sent them from pillar to post whenever they enquired about their salaries.

They had reportedly first approached the ANC's administrative manager, Jan Ramabula, who could not give them answers.

They also claimed they were not paid bonuses in December, as had been the norm in previous years.

Last month, ANC provincial secretary Soviet Lekganyane admitted the party had financial problems.

This was after it asked traditional leaders for funds ahead of its provincial centenary celebrations in Sekhukhune. They were given 15 cows.

Lekganyane reportedly said the financial problems within the party were the result of a number of events held last year, including the December provincial elective conference in which Premier Cassel Mathale held on to his post as ANC chair.

In a decent, open and supposedly democratic society the plight of people is not supposed to be a secret, internal matter, or confidential matter. The lies must stop. We see the same with the prosecutor being suspended. it is NOT an internal matter. Internal or confidential are just excuses.

      Cracker - 2012-02-03 22:54

Just to make it clearer, if the employer was for example one of the banks or retail stores it would not have been minimized to the same BS.

      Albert - 2012-02-04 08:22

Workers, stop moaning about money. You are doing it for the party.Where is your patriotism?.

like i said before there is a lot of po po going on in Limpopo from there the name you do the maths

      Thabo - 2012-02-04 11:42

Bra, they are being cut off now. This action can only benefit the province. So let us give the investigators a little bit of time to hang those responsible for the theft.

  • braamc - 2012-02-04 06:44

Workers told you they have not been paid, off course this thieving, useless ANC will say "no comment" Not that anyone should earn a cent, for they have stolen every possible tax payers money already.

      Thabo - 2012-02-04 11:40

Want a spin in my M3? I'm sure you will enjoy the sheer power your tax money has bought me.

  • Eduard - 2012-02-04 06:58

Dwhaaaaaa.......it is only the beginning under the current ANC

  • Kevin Nicklin - 2012-02-04 06:59

How can salary matters be confidential when it's our hard earned tax money that you are using to pay with? You were elected into power by the people so don't deny the people transparency in your modes of operation! Why does ANC always think they are above the law and can dictate as they like!

      Garth - 2012-02-04 07:22

Because of the racist, ignorant support of fools like thabo and richard above. These fools will support the ineptocracy no matter what - just because they believe that the useless anc gave them `freedom'. They'll continue eating the shiite that their leaders shovel out every day, because their racist short-sightedness disallows objective thought.

      Thabo - 2012-02-04 11:39

Have another Guinness Garth. You don't have a clue about politics, how it works and how we are taking back what should have been ours in the first place. Suck it up. It is happening and with a glass of booze in your hand it is only going to get worse. See the worry in my eye. And yes, I am as big a racist as you are, but thanks to my upbringing I'll never call you a fool on a public forum, even if I can see you are one. We were taught by whites how to be racists. Suck that one up too.

      Kevin Nicklin - 2012-02-04 12:25

Garth and Thabo, why do you both have to turn this into a racist issue. Let me tell you both that I used to live in Zimbabwe and that food shortages, water shortages and petrol shortages are not racist, they affect EVERYONE. You guys need to realize that shouting racists remarks at each other solves nothing. Joining forces and demanding transparency and good governance will be more fruitful. Come on guys, let's rid our society of corruption by uniting against it!

      Jennifer - 2012-02-04 12:28

      ...yawn

      Kevin Nicklin - 2012-02-04 13:10

Go back to bed Jennifer. Tired people shouldn't be yawning on this site! :)

      Jennifer - 2012-02-04 17:18

Sorry Kevin, I wasn't yawning at you I was yawning at the other two and their tired boring old story~ your comment was good.

      Lelo - 2012-02-15 15:29

      Thabo...wake up!

  • carpejugulim - 2012-02-04 07:11

If your employer has not paid you then go to labour court, that is what they are there for. Bonuses are a different matter, those are a privelidge NOT a right and there is no guarantee that you will be paid a bonus. It is a matter of concern that the current ruling party cannot pay their workers and are in financial distress ... this does not bode well for the rest of the countrys finances under their control

  • ISO - 2012-02-04 07:16

The people who did not get paid will make a fuzz about it! We will surely hear about this soon. Go on news 24 send down a journalist and speak to the people and give us the story!

  • Wendy - 2012-02-04 07:57

  • braamc - 2012-02-04 08:36

Give them a few cows so long, for rest pay them nothing they have stolen everything anyhow.

  • Tshepo Ship Sekepe - 2012-02-04 08:40

I almost believed the ANC has a successful secret gold mine to fund all their extravaganza. The boys always running around with bags full of money to buy votes and now they can't pay employees. That is poor Administration by Mathale.

  • Gail - 2012-02-04 08:42

I believe that anyone should be permitted to comment here provided that their comment is relevant to the post and constructive in nature. If someone is posting from Australia and posts the same thing in whatever post he comments in it shows he is stuck and not very bright and needs help from a therapist. The fact that he is in Australia and feels this way shows he did not really want to leave SA and although he is there he probably still has family here number one and number two he hasn't moved on and integrated with the Australians. Some people move and immerse themselves in the culture of their new country while others tend to move but hang out only with ex-Saffas who are similarly unhappy. Pity them. My sons think of themselves a citizens of their new country and learn their languages etc where necessary and their friends are not ex-pats from SA only but largely citizens of their adopted country. Two of them have lived abroad for 17/8 years so that's understandable but the other one has only been abroad for three years and his friends are predominently citizens of the country he is in and surrounding countries. This guy is homesick if you ask me.

      henriette.louw - 2012-02-04 09:14

So why doesnt he come back home if he's so homesick? My daughter went overseas came to visit here and moaned about the country and i told her to shut up. She wasnt prepared to deal with it, went overseas, enjoying herself there but not allowed to criticise. Its the same as your moher in law coming into your house moaning about the way you run your house. Its not hers so she has no right to open her mouth. My view on it.

  • Thuthukile Madlabane - 2012-02-04 09:08

how is it possible that the ANC can not pay its employees while the ANC usually holds lot of conferences where they are always fed. The ANC is exploiting its own members of which the majority is black people. People wake up the ANC has had its toll now its time for change. I am tied of being disappointed by the ANC just because they gave us freedom.

      Thabo - 2012-02-04 11:28

Would you rather be conned back into a white regime by a crazed old white woman with hidden agendas?

      lindz.kok - 2012-02-04 12:37

does it saden you to see that there are people in south africa that has moved forward and you have been left behind thabo?

  • henriette.louw - 2012-02-04 09:10

@Lindz kok Sorry but you are wrong Jan Smuts supported a racially segregated South Africa. I dealt with all of this in my studies. Please check your sources.

  • mark.bekker - 2012-02-04 09:20

Did everyone miss the part about the 15 cows? How can we take anything these guys do seriuosly, there currency is beef. Lol

  • Vegi - 2012-02-04 09:26

Thabo I am very pleased with your comment especially that it embodies a sentiment that has characterised Africa for centuries. Emotional and spiritual well being has always been in the centre of the African way of life and material things only served to fulfill the afore mentioned and materialism was never a way of life. It was for this reason that vast inequalities were an exception rather than the norm in African communities. So you put it correctly whey you say "the glory of being regarded as a human being far outweighs the glitter of money (material things)." Before the advent of colonialism African communities were content in their peaceable environs where everybody was regarded as a human being and were not militaristic. They had no reason to raid possessions of their neighbours as they were content with what they had. All this changed with the advent of slavery which was a harbinger for the coming colonialism. I am also glad that you pointed out that the ANC is a better evil than the evil represented by the restoration of the rule of those who believe that people of different complexion are lesser human beings. In fact, as you correctly pointe out, the ANC ship can be steered to the correct direction once adequately equipped candidates take command, instead of the current leadership that trembles at the prospect of offending the former oppressor.

      Thabo - 2012-02-04 11:25

@Vegi. True my Brother. The reason why these whites cry all day long is because their whole existence centers around material wealth. They first look after their own pockets and screw everybody else including other whites. But we are in power now and we will work out our own future. Their opinions and views are no longer important or applicable. They make up 7% of the population so they might as well not even exist. @Demetrius. You only have the whites to blame if we don't vote for your daughter. The white skin is something we will ever trust again. If your daughter is brilliant, then this is not fair on her, but we will never take any chances with whites again.

      Demetrius.Syriopoulos - 2012-02-04 13:15

@Thabo, from all your other comments i had this opinion of you as a non racist. how wrong can one be by judging a book by its cover. whatever i do or say must now be judged by others in here.

  • Demetrius.Syriopoulos - 2012-02-04 10:04

@ all that comment here. you are all missing the point. you are all grabing the sick that you are given and you close your eyes and start the beatings. you are all, including myelf often, falling the hole that they are digging for you. the goal of all of us, excluding political leaders, that live withing the boarders of SA are to have a better future the leaders on the other hand, irrespective of race, are there to take what they can. they throw a bone at us every now and again and we spend all owr time and energy fighting each other for it, giving them an open road to do what they want to our detriment always. Thuthulike made the most correct statement here when she said "just because they gave us freedom". i don't think anyone of all the black voters of the ANC would have ever even considered voting for the ANC in the 1994 election if they were told that the politicaly conected would earn millions a month while the minumin wage would be set at R900. freedom is good but you cannot eat it, it does not cloath you and does not house you. it may be a road to awakaning to write in these forums and comment boxes, but PLEASE not for your sake, but that of your children, keep your eye on the ball and not on the chain. the common enemy is the one that looks to deprive of your basic human rights, force you into crime and give you human right while incarserated. you need your rights while free.

      Newsreader - 2012-02-04 12:56

Dont worry Lindz. My black buddies who work with me have already said that they will fix his ways with what he deserves. Most of the blacks in South Africa detest his type who have nothing better in life but hate everything around them including themselves. He contradicts his tiny brain with all sorts from saying whites are materialistic to offering a ride is his so called M3. His little brain cell farts out his intelligence. He will always be a social misfit!
