ANC wants FS premier to quit

Bloemfontein - An ANC delegation is expected to ask Free State Premier Beatrice Marshoff to resign on Monday.
Provincial ANC spokesperson Teboho Sikisi confirmed that Marshoff's resignation was discussed when the provincial executive committee (PEC) met on Friday.
"The delegation will discuss the decision with her on Monday evening."
Marshoff was expected back in Bloemfontein from the United States on Monday afternoon and would probably go directly into discussions about her future as premier.
At its provincial conference earlier this year, the Free State ANC decided that she must go, and the new provincial leadership would have to decide on when and how.
Sikisi said a PEC meeting scheduled for Monday would not necessary spend more time on Marshoff's resignation.
"The meeting would be to discuss and deliberate on the issues of the new political dispensation and the full effects thereof," he said.
Sikisi said rumours of a new political party, apparently to be formed by disgruntled ANC members, could also be discussed.
The Free State ANC said earlier it did not expect mass resignations from MECs in the provinces after former president Thabo Mbeki's recall by the party.
