Johannesburg - The ANC Youth League wished South Africans a blessed Christmas on Wednesday.

"This is the time to show love and appreciation of who we are and embracing our loved ones," ANC Youth League spokesperson Bandile Masuku said in a statement.

The ANCYL appealed to those with means to give to the needy and less fortunate.

"As the ANCYL we call on all our members to be dutiful and do what their parents can be proud [of] and happy about."

The African National Congress Youth League in Western Cape echoed the sentiments.

"Christmas is a time of great togetherness, happiness, generosity and attachment to the personality of Jesus of Nazareth who was an embodiment of love for the most vulnerable, isolated and downtrodden in society," said ANC Youth League provincial convenor Muhammad Khalid Sayed.

Sayed said Jesus of Nazareth preferred the company of those whom society had shunned and eventually became an enemy of the repressive state for his revolutionary love and devotion.
