ANCYL absent from Free State conference

2012-06-23 20:33

Parys - The ANC Youth League in the Free State was absent at the party's elective conference in Parys although individual members were attending on Saturday.

Not one of the Free State ANCYL's 27 voting delegates have registered for the party's conference.
Conference accreditation committee member Olly Mlamleli said the conference made its threshold by six branches.

The Free State have 318 African National Congress branches and needed 233 branches in good standing to hold its provincial elective conference.

Mlamleli said 239 branches in good standing were attending the conference, indicating that the conference was constitutionally correct with a six branch cushion.

Problems in run up to conference

The province had various problems in the run up to the conference in Parys. It went ahead despite two of the five party provincial regions not having held their regional conferences yet.

Mlamleli said the conference expected 930 delegates but only 750 registered and arrived in Parys.

Re-elected provincial chairperson Ace Magashule welcomed individual ANCYL members who attended the conference as normal branch members on Friday night.

Magashule specially welcomed reinstated ANCYL treasurer general Pule Mabe at the conference as the new the leader of the ANCYL.

“You heard me correct,” said Magashule, before he repeated that Mabe was the leader of the youth league.

He told the delegates that the party's provincial executive committee had tried to work with the province's youth leaders to solve differences.

“We worked with the youth league until they decided to be disrespectful,” said Magashule.

Branch queries

Reacting to the comments Free State ANCYL chairperson Kgotso Morapela said the Parys conference was an illegal conference in terms of the party's constitution.

He said processes to solve branch queries such as parallel structures in areas such as the Gariep region had not been solved satisfactory.

Morapela said the Free State was a small province and for the ANC to hold a provincial conference with only three regions with so many outstanding party issues was wrong.

The conference in Parys continues until Sunday.

Remember ANCYL, that to the ANC, you are children! If you want to be heard in the correct mature. Way you must show that at the vote and obtain something of what you envision. Failing that you will remain children to a heavy handed father, the ANC. Wake up and act in the right way. Establish yourself as a political entity. You have enough following to break the back of this corrupt government. But be warned, do the same as they and your fate will be swift.

How dare they not invite the ANC youth leaugue, I cant trust the ANC anymore, when we decide on matters for the country the youth should be involved, we are part and parcel of this how dare they. No one cares about us, anymore, they oust Malema, and then prtend like it was all ok, there not engagine the young lions on matters of the country. We are the young Lions, when all is said and done, its black youth like me that would fight, and cry for this country. The anc has no allies it better allie with family and that's us the Young Lions

I think ANC should change its name into Malema so dat the Youth League will follow it,,,how about that? The ANCYL has changed its colour into IFP colours-when u talk about IFP u r talking about MG Buthelezi,,,when u talk about the ANCYL u r talking about Malema,,,,Don't label the party with people's names,,,this is not a Sole Trader,,,here u don't do wat the masses want, u will be recalled,,,One must understand the concept 'absent',,,it means u were informed of the gathering but didn't bother to attend,,,,get it chief?

I think the ANC now 4gts that it is the YL that mobilize masses for them believe me if this ZNC (Zulu Nation Congress) continues sidelining the ANCYL its going to lose its masses.... Roar young lion Roar

  • B.b. - 2012-06-24 08:30

ANCYL was absent because they support an individual, not the party and its alliance,,,we don't want dictators in the ANC...we want loyal members of the party,,,Being loyal means u don't go to the media to talk anyhow to the media about the critical party issues,,,by so doing, u r arming up other political parties and in that way, u will fall becoz u let them take over,,,

Cde Ace is out of order n bordering on the YL's Autonomy n his statement can also B viewed as the \ANC\ enforcin leadership on the YL! Whetha Cde Pule emerges or not, is our decision n if any1 has their favorite candidate, u hav a right 2 Lobby 4 dem but we *YL\ wil make th final call

When word disrespectful is used by a political party it sends shivers up my spine and is a warning to all as it was a favorite term used by Stalin and his thugs, Mao Tse Tung and his cronies, Mugabe and his pigs and Zuma and his followers it lets you know which way things will go in the new revolution coming our way.
