ANCYL set to decide on ANC top spots

2012-10-01 22:20

Johannesburg - The ANC Youth League will announce its nominations for the ANC leadership on Wednesday, spokesperson Thabo Kupa said.

"We will make a major announcement on Wednesday to the country in terms of the leadership," he said on Monday.

He denied a report that the league's national executive committee (NEC) had decided its nomination list for the top six positions in the African National Congress.

"They have not finalised... it is just speculation," said Kupa, an NEC member.

The NEC had "deliberated on the issue".

"They [the NEC] have mandated the political committee headed by deputy president Ronald Lamola to finalise the perspective on leadership with the provincial and regional chairpersons and secretaries," he said.

The political committee would report back to the NEC by Tuesday.

The committee would also develop a document on leadership, Kupa said.

The league would present the policies it was taking to Mangaung on Wednesday.

Nominations for candidates for the ANC's top leadership positions opened at the weekend. The national elections will take place in Mangaung in December at the ANC's national conference.

Branches are the first to make nominations, followed by the regions, and then the provinces.

The ANCYL, ANC veterans organisation, and ANC Women's League are treated as provinces.

For the purpose of nominations, the ANC has 12 provinces.

We shall wait and see what will go down during/after the nominations.

      johan.wilsnach - 2012-10-02 06:09

@seetelo. I don't believe anything new. Key word being 'see'. It's rather another serving of the blind leading the blind. Last night,Zuma said on the news that all the people claim to know the anc but that they don't. By their conduct and all else, the whole world don't know the anc.

the mistakes these delegates commit is the same mistake millions of us make during elections.voting a wrong party at the expence of very good party.we keep on regretting and protesting after each and every election.please guys nominate people with a capacity to lead and serve our people.we are sick and tired of toyi-toyings.

      lionel.defrontignac - 2012-10-02 06:26

Exactly; we should stop treating political parties like soccer clubs - loyalty is a ridiculous concept, when it comes to choosing our elected representatives, who are there to represent our needs, and act upon them. That's all that the ANC has left, if the last elections were anything to go by. That, and some claim to being the party of god, and that the DA will bring back apartheid. It seems to me that the concept of voting in a democratic constitution is alien to most South Africans.

Zuma and his crew must just come out and face the Law. He must still explain his R205m house development, R800m donation to china and billions to Arms paid via SANDF money market portfolio.

  • Prince Bird - 2012-10-01 23:38

Don't be like ANCWL they're bunch of headless chickens. Zuma need to be relieved from his duties as we speak now.

      siphom.mnguni - 2012-10-02 04:06

@prince.bird:) maybe they fancy marriage proposal fro, the king of polygamy, who knows. There are possibilities. Talking about knowing which side of your bread is buttered, I suppose.

  • ernest.lwandle - 2012-10-01 23:56

sometimes i wonder if i should feel sorry for the forever sufering/ diehearted/stupid ANC voters. my black brothers see how blind you are. see how confussed you are few days after the elections you will be fighting each other

      Johann Enslin - 2012-10-02 00:06

Goes for many people Ernest, none are so blind...but my friend, i fear for us all.

      joneethling - 2012-10-02 04:19

ernest you sound like the chicken that runs around shouting that the sky is falling. Nothing to fear but fear itself.

      Tshilidzi Wa Ha Mukhovha - 2012-10-02 04:53

Let's see the top six which Ancyl will nominate tomorrow.

  • Johann Enslin - 2012-10-02 00:01

@ letswhatever...i am praying for that economic freedom you mention. I want it badly. I want to see you roast those chickens that come home to roost. Viva comrade! Viva! Black domination viva! Down with whites viva! We all pay our dues eventually.

      loading123 - 2012-10-02 06:35

And you shall pay your dues, don't worry. Your mind is poisoned by the idea that you can get rid of the whites and still live in SA as you know it. Get rid of the whites and sanctions will be laid against SA, corporates will pull out, and you'll be out of a job, with a handful of rice to feed your family per month. Looking up bro! When will you realize that the white people are not your enemies, but the very people you vote for?

      aqeel.meyer - 2012-10-02 07:24

for someone so against whites,u surely have a very white afrikaans name!\r\nU so much hate white people, this country will be worthless without white people.\r\nYour favourite race group so much love lack the knowledge, leadership and intellect of running anything, not even a toilet.\r\nLook at all the african countries thats under black rule... Poverty, hunger, total collaps of government, constant wars,corruption.\r\nYes,i admit that black people gave hard labour in construction in building the cities as we have it today. For that i give them praise. But if it wasnt for the white people who brought the knowledge, money and vision then your beloved people would probably be still running around in the bush.\r\nAll thìngs come to a end, ANC and its allies will one day be nothing but a name in the history books like that traitors FW De Klerk and Martinus van Schalkwyk

      Johann Enslin - 2012-10-02 08:30

ANC top six is too BLACK for a NON-RACIST rainbow nation.

  • douglas.reid.921 - 2012-10-02 05:39

Somebody tell me what contribution this ancyl has made to society other than promoting self interest and tenderpreneurship? When a whiskey swinging 31 year old pot bellied criminal calls the shots from the sidelines then I am afraid this disorganization should simply be shut down to save money and noise pollution.

      Onke Mdingi - 2012-10-02 06:30

I think politicians can answer that one better.

  • don.mug.3 - 2012-10-02 05:39

  • Michael - 2012-10-02 07:21

ANCYL has been paralysed, they are the only structure that will call for change of leadership in Mangaung, of course with the backing by Mashatile and tenderprenuer Mathale, but they must remember that regines in Lompopo need Zuma, limpopo is goong to Mangaung devided already into two and the person they are hoping to nominate will snub them, they are f****d up, Motlanthe wont stand, i know this guy, he just want to calculate, this is one guy they can not rely on, the musrt ask Mbeki.

      mpfanisto.makatu - 2012-10-02 07:55

Let's hope they vote wisely, no more uneducated self absorbed corrupt loud mouth people who don't give a dam about the poor masses.

  • Cyril Harold Mtsweni - 2012-10-02 08:04

What i know is that there is one leader in the top six who does not believe in collectivism and therefore beyond redemption. The other can be made to toe the line.

  • mabura.bratiger - 2012-10-02 13:56

Why the ANCYL going to decide? They hv been telling everyone that their preferred candidate is Kgalema.
