Pretoria - Germany and the Benelux countries would no longer accept South Africans travelling on temporary passports, said the home affairs department on Wednesday.
From the beginning of March, Germany will not accept South African temporary passport holders, and the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg will refuse them from April onwards.
"We have not received any reasons for the decision," said home affairs spokesperson Jacky Mashapu.
Apply in good time
He added that home affairs officials would meet the various countries' diplomats in South Africa to make arrangements for those already abroad and travelling on temporary passports
"We urge all potential travellers to apply for their travel documents in good time to avoid any inconvenience," he said.
