Complacency the DA's greatest risk - Zille

2012-10-13 21:33

Cape Town - Complacency is the greatest risk the Democratic Alliance faces in the Western Cape, premier Helen Zille said on Saturday.

"I always say that in politics, you are at your most vulnerable after your greatest victory. When you think you are safe, you are at your weakest," she told delegates at the provincial leadership congress in Cape Town.

"We must never assume we will automatically keep on winning here."

The party was increasingly focusing its attention on other provinces.

Zille said that provincial voters would change their minds if their party became complacent and self-serving.

"Let us be humble and remain true to our values and always put the people first."

Refugee comment

She cited as an example a comment she made on Twitter, in which she called Eastern Cape pupils who came to her province "refugees".

Her statement had been in reference to a protest in Grabouw over overcrowding at a local school.

She said she should have anticipated the tweet would have been taken in the wrong way and admitted it almost cost them the Grabouw ward.

Nonetheless, her party fought off the African National Congress to claim victory.

The party leader was welcomed into the Cape Town International Convention Centre room with the song, "dis Zille wat die wind laat waai", showing off her trademark energetic dance moves.

Voting

At least 864 members cast their votes for the provincial chair of finance, the deputy chairperson and four additional executive committee member positions.

Provincial social development and sport MEC Ivan Meyer was the sole nominee for the provincial leadership position and elected unopposed.

Western Cape health MEC Theuns Botha was voted in as deputy provincial leader and local government MEC Anton Bredell as provincial chairman, both being the sole nominees for the positions.

Ten people were contesting the position of deputy chair and four people the finance chair.

Zille praised the nomination and voting process.

"Unlike leadership changes in the ANC this change is not the result of in-fighting, corruption, bribery, threats and intimidation. It's exactly the opposite," she said.

"While our internal elections are hotly contested, they are also democratic, transparent, peaceful and positive."

Having the white and colored vote is no big deal, no self respecting white or coloured would vote for the failed anc. However you can say you have succeeded when you get blacks to vote for you. At least the da has the moral high ground when it comes to corruption etc. Blacks will vote for anc like they vote for mugabe, regardless of how they get abused, stolen from, lied to etc. They will never want to believe that life would be better with a white government. Da will always be seen as a white party.

      colin.dovey - 2012-10-13 22:59

Dream on.....coalitions and breakaways will happen. Just wait.

      dave.kofang - 2012-10-14 06:03

@Douglas as long as blacks see on sites like this white people making racist comments on a daily basis, they will always have fears about bringing apartheid back.

      Sibusiso - 2012-10-14 07:17

@douglas how do you expect the so called black person to vote for DA after reading your comment ?

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 07:31

Douglas, you are so right i wonder what the thumbs down are for, i just gave you a thumbs up, the da is and always will be a white racist like you party, so why a person such as i would want to have any part in it?

      ali.asgar.58323 - 2012-10-14 08:37

I am a self respecting coloured and I will vote for the ANC. Their stance on Palestine must be commended. Minister Rob Davies and Ebrahim Ebrahim has revived my vision for the party that brought us liberation. The DA only emboldens the zionists. A vote for the ANC is a vote against zionist occupation.

      ISO - 2012-10-14 09:54

Ali, we are talking about SA here not Palestine. Your vote will determine how SA will operate for the next 5 years. Ask yourself; are you happy with how the country is currently being run? @Dave, Sibusiso,Khethu do you know that Douglas is from the DA? I do not disagree with you that there is still racist in the DA, which should be taken out of the party, because the DA does not stand for racism. BTW all parties still have ricist in them, unfortuantly.

  • gert.swart.393 - 2012-10-13 22:43

The DA will lose the Western Cape and Cape Town in the next election.

      colin.dovey - 2012-10-13 23:04

      Dream on Gertie!

      sani.ghana.3 - 2012-10-13 23:37

DA will lose, in westen cape there are now many ANC refugees

  • rasthami.m1 - 2012-10-13 22:50

ANC might be dissapointing At the present Moment but better the devil I know Sorry DA not in this life time

      Erna - 2012-10-13 23:01

Biggest mistake of your life! The reason the anc is so arrogant and complacent is because there are too many anc stooges like you. They don't need to perform while they know they will win the election thanks to you.

      colin.dovey - 2012-10-13 23:03

Time will tell my friend - and time is running out for this failed Government......the ANC is not just disappointing....face facts, it is a total disaster - in every sphere - Hospitals, Schools, Foreign policy, Houses, Transport policy - oh, there is ONE thing they are world beaters in - CORRUPTION - stealing OUR money, for self-enrichment.

      SharonE - 2012-10-14 00:02

@ Rasthami - who are you backing as new leader of the ANC? Jacob? Bheki? Tokyo? Kgalema? Not great choices there, would you say? If there was someone there who would honour his appointment, and strive to unify the people of SA, there would be hope for all. I don't see Nelson or anyone remotely resembling him in any way as a potential candidate fo the future.

      matthew.ovendale.3 - 2012-10-14 00:15

And that is why we will all suffer. That mentality of not trusting what is plain to see but rather relying on pre conceived ideas and a fear of the unknown. This country and its future are your responsibility your say matters and if the ANC never hears that voice let alone acts proactively on it, whilst the DA listens and helps. Well then who is to blame but you and all those that share this lazy defunct view.

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 06:44

DA? Never! Not in a hundred years, the ANC is in power now but whites can resist to call blacks by all names, imagine if da takes over, we will be kicked like soccer balls, names calling will be nothing, apartheid will be back wth a vengeance. No! Change your attitude first lets all strive for trust amongst us, da might be better than the anc, but better for who? whites? maybe but definately not for blacks, do you sincerely believe that should we all vote for da whites will stop calling us names? Blacks please stop being fooled by this things, Anc might be giving us a raw deal but da is not our solution actually it is a night mare waiting to happen for blacks. Now you whites can start calling me names.

      jaymz.hurly - 2012-10-14 09:20

Let's face facts the ANC's top 3 provinces are Limpopo Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape please take a good look at the matric results for those 3 provinces it will show as Limpopo worst Mpumalanga 2nd worst and Eastern Cape 3rd worst and the ANC smile from ear to ear because if the uneducated masses become educated they will loose atleast half their votes hence Text books being thrown away in one of those provinces the ANC does care about your Children they are more than happy for him to become a gardener and you the Limpopo village idiots are completely brain washed...Apartheid can never ever come back 1 whites don't have the army 2 whites don't have the numbers 3 the constitution can't be CHANGED but the village idiots are the easiest targets for the ANC to brainwash if the ANC stay in power for the 100 years the whites will most definitely have the last laugh as you will be treated the same way your grandfather was treated in 1970 this time by your comrades the ANC (was zimbabwe not destroyed by an african was angola not destroyed by an african was mozambique not destroyed by an african and their are plenty more african countries to name) I don't know how good you are in analysing a situation because you do seem to still support the ANC but I see a pattern there so if I was a racist and wished for all black people to suffer (except the few in power) I would most definitely but an x next to the ANC on my voting ballot

      reba.moroeng - 2012-10-14 15:40

Why do some people assume that Africans vote for the ANC because they are stupid or because it is a "black" party? Maybe if the DA was to increase it's presence in areas where most voters live their fortunes in national elections might change. People vote for the party that they feel will best serve their interests and unfortunately, people in rural areas and townships outside WC and GP never get to hear and do not know how the DA will serve them. So please, our parents/grandparents/uncles etc. aren't stupid. They are just voting for the party with a presence where they stay, engages them and speaks to their concerns.

      sexyfancyface - 2012-10-17 14:25

That explains why Africa is such a sorry continent let them abuse us just because they are black how stupid smart is that?

  • jackie.stone.501 - 2012-10-13 22:58

When are we reducing the provinces again?

  • danie.smit.587 - 2012-10-14 03:08

Is the EC educational refugees?the story of Africa's refugees not always tragic? From Apartheid days when black people prefer to leave their families and free black manage countries, to come to the apartheid state where they because of their color, they where where second class people? But still black people from free black manage countries came to apartheid SA as economical ( work on SA mines ) Educational ( medical students at Africa's largest university for exclusively black medical students and SA host of other universities ( more opportunities , for black students , than in any other black manage country, or patients at our hospitals in apartheid SA( because in their black manage countries only their rulers could afford to go to western countries for medical treatment) Still poor black people move around to improve their lives, as their leaders only look after themselves es and their own families and friends. Is that a African cultural thing?

      Tshepo Gwamanda - 2012-10-14 06:57

Danie Bannie my friend. I assume you did not get bantu education like myself! I assume you went to good model-c schools as there were different education systems for blacks and whites!! I see you did not get value from your schooling days - your English is pathetic man, you failing to construct a basic sentence! A 4th grader from a black school can do better!!! Your grammar is all over the place, your basic construct of words and sentences is fundamentally flawed. It is frustrating trying to go through your argument as you obviously lack certain skills required to put forth an argument!! Your brain function sounds like that of a 4th grader to me but I'm pritty sure that Danie because you white, you are an executive some in a corporate world!! In the famous words of a black comedian Chris Rock 'its all right because its ALL WHITE' isn't it Danie Bannie!!!?

      carla.vittori3 - 2012-10-14 11:59

@Tshepo - Nelson Mandela qualified as an attorney with his Bantu eductation from all black schools and university. He was also a candidate attorney at an all white firm before moving off - I don't think they hired him for AA or BEE reasoins do you? I wonder if he feels his education was substandard?

  • jola.jose.7 - 2012-10-14 06:48

  • civil.moabi - 2012-10-14 06:52

the only white person who will lead south africa will come from the ANC madam zille if u r serious about becoming SA president then i think u should swallow ur pride like the likes of martinus van sckalkwyk and join the ANC

      Tshepo Gwamanda - 2012-10-14 07:12

Civil, that's a very shallow argument you put forth and it seems to me that you really stuck on sentiments and nostalgic reference to the once great mighty ANC of the past! Let's accept that political parties will go up and down the pendulum and do get complacent at times! At the moment the ANC has become extremely complacent and they have self serving members in government looting this country to their own benefit including the president himself!! in fighting and corruption is rife inside the ANC. That is why us as voters we have a moral duty and an obligation to vote them out of power and give others a chance to govern!!! Hellen Zille is the opposition we need her to build a strong opposition to the ANC so that this country can have a better future. We the power both you and I hold the balance of power, always remember that!!!!!!

      sexyfancyface - 2012-10-17 14:27

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 07:16

Unfortunately it will never happen in this generation, after all traces of apartheid has diminished, youre delaying it yourselves, by teaching your kids that they are better humans than blacks, then i am also tempted to tell my kids how evil whites are.

      Duncan Colter - 2012-10-14 08:15

Tempted? I'm sure you already do. You are a racist simple as that. And a fool to believe apartheid will return. I pity your children as they have no chance to be good people when they are being raised with hatred

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 09:26

Duncan thats what you are good at, calling anyone who doesnt agree with you a fool, if i want not to be called a fool must i always say dankie baas, yes missus?

  • khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 07:11

I hate the anc under zuma so much, but i am not hating it enough to vote whites into power again, these things will never change, they will always want to believe they are purer than blacks, once the DA is put into power the 1st thing they will do, will be to remove the savage, primitive, uneducated, murderous, idiotic, tsotsi, corrupt etc blacks from their ranks and push them back to the mountains where the 'babboons' belong. And then all the evils of aparheid will flood back, only much severe this time arround so as to teach the k..f...r.s a lesson, we better die with the anc short comings than live with the da's white rule. I say change your attitude NOW before we talk about all voting for da. I am not voting blindly, not a single black man does, its only the apartheid that is still practised by a nomber of whites that couses blacks to be sceptical about white rule in the near future.

      glen.e.huysamer - 2012-10-14 07:32

Ohhh Please Khethu there are hardly any whites left in South AFrica, the number ratio is 45 to 1, if you are afraid of the whites when there are so many blacks then you are saying to yourself that you are inferior to white people. Sorry I cant help you with that, your own standing dictates your believe and unfortunately you your self will pass that on to your children, what a shame. Your children will therefore stand less of a chance than you did, at least you could blame apartheid when you were young your children will just blame you.

      Tshepo Gwamanda - 2012-10-14 07:33

@Gatsheni boya benyathi (Khethu)! To me its not about colour anymore! Its about those in power and those without power and 'we the people' are being used as pawns in the political chess game!!! If we can only realise the power we have as those in the middle and put that to good use by swinging the balance of political power from one direction to another from time to time basically to give those in government a wake up call!!! Those that we have put in power and they currently gambling with our future and our kids future!!!! To me this one and the ONLY argument is far bigger than the race problems we have in the country, the ANC government has become a law into themselves and they don't care about the people anymore!!! every ANC official is more concerned about themselves and how much they can get out of our tax money, corruption is rife in the ANC!!! and they will never stop until this country is raped to the ground!!!! I say we can do something about it!!

      ndlovuvincent - 2012-10-14 08:14

Well said Mpongo,Mdingi,Nkomo zidlekhaya ngoba ziswele abelusi.I share the same feeling with u.I am not happy with the ANC leadership, even the one that they say will do better,I do not trust it.

      sicolobandile - 2012-10-14 08:21

@khethu you are I'm scared of voting for whites because in the western cape, they still practice racism

      Staalburger - 2012-10-14 08:26

For the whites to go back to Apartheid, they will need to change the constitution, to do that, they basicly need two thirds of the votes. I, as a white person knows what negative effect apartheid had on the land and it's people. Those in the DA will never go for apartheid. They just need more votes than the ANC to make the positive changes they said they can do. Why not give the DA a chance? If they fail, vote ANC again. Don't fear that they will get enough to change the constitution, there will always be enough radicals to vote ANC, no matter how much they struggle and suffer.

      christine.devilliers.90 - 2012-10-14 08:42

I feel sorry for you if you realy believe those degrading things about yourself.\r\nNot all white's have the same believe as you. The majority of the \black\ people \r\nIn this country are good, hard working, kind people.\r\nDon't look at all the people with distorted lenses.\r\nI pray for you my dear fellow South African that you will loose \r\nThose destorted lences and see the beautifull people of this country.

      sexyfancyface - 2012-10-17 14:30

Khethu that is a dead argument and it is hogwash. How would they do that I thought you were informed by not clearly you survive on propaganda. Well those who think the DA will never govern rewind and think of a time when PW Botha thought the ANC would never rule this country...liberation movements have a way of self destructing just like the ANC...Umbutho wethu iDA uzophumelela one day!!!!

  • stuart.lidstone.1 - 2012-10-14 07:45

My part-time gardener told me that, in the last elections, he decided he did not have the time to go stand and vote as it woud cost him a days employment. On arriving home he was almost forced by the local ANC onto a vehicle, taken to vote with much hullaballoo and once he had made his cross, discarded, having to make his own way home! He has not forgotten and hopefully this will influence him next time around.

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 08:20

You make your garden boy come to work on a voting day? Shame on you, you need to be demoted to somethng that will require you to touch sh*#t with your bare hands.

      Tshepo Gwamanda - 2012-10-14 08:38

Why was your gardner working on voting day which becomes a public holiday!? You see now Stuart you taking us back!!! and why would he not be paid for that day!!? now this is upsetting!!!

      Desilusionada - 2012-10-14 10:29

Exactly the point made by previous commenters. These racist bigots cannot comprehend what they read. Stuart said specifically that the man is a part-time gardener. He also did not tell that the man was working for him that day. Part time gardeners work .... Wait for it...... drum roll .....Yes part time and at more than one place. So if the man did not work for Stuart that particular day, why should he pay him, and why would Stuart have to "need to be demoted to somethng that will require you to touch sh*#t with your bare hands" ? As for "making" him work? This is the reason that WHITE DA SUPPORTERS make racist comments. Because after 20 years, BLACK ANC SUPPORTER still have not learned to think, The follow blindly propaganda sprouted, because it makes them feel superior. When in fact they still hide behind outdated laws to support their inability to run this country. The mandate of a political party .......

  • lance.hurly - 2012-10-14 08:18

Gwede Mantashe's comment from last week refers. Sadly, I have to agree with him. SA will never be the rainbow nation Nelson Mandela, (and most of us who voted yes to change) envisaged. We as South Africans tend to generalize way more than is sensible, and continue to polarize our own society along colour lines, and that is one legacy we can "thank" the National Party for. I don't believe this will ever change. We have enough uneducated (and some downright stupid) white, black and coloured folk in this country to maintain the status quo. (The comments on the various news fora are proof of this assertion). For those of you who have never had an Irish coffee, please do note that if you drink it with any form of sweetener, the sweetness remains in the dark bit at the bottom of the glass...

  • Duncan Colter - 2012-10-14 08:25

Khethu and rasthami. Two people so desperate to spread their hatred of whites on this platform. These racists are to be pitied. They claim to be educated yet there argument is based on racism and irrational paranoia. The ANC has grown complacent, they know people like these two will vote for them no matter what happens. They are no longer a revolutionary movement as the revolution has come.

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 08:51

Duncan, pity you are obliviuos of the hatred for blacks spewed by whites on this platform, you prefer to give them a thumbs up, you only notice when a black man responds to racial attack from you

      Duncan Colter - 2012-10-14 11:20

Not oblivious, trying to change their attitudes. Leading by example to Show others we can live without racism. Madiba taught as that. Sadly, you and racists like you (on both sides) believe hate and violence are the examples to follow. Thats the difference between people like me and people like you. Hate vs compassion. Kindness vs cruelty. Acceptance vs racism. Good vs evil. And everyone who has read your comments knows which side you are on

Reply to: Mzondi Wakwa Maqina In South Africa there are : 40 206 275 Black people 5 814 657 Coloureds/Indians/Asians 4 565 825 Whites Why are black people so scared of whites and voting DA ? It is irrational. The more people who vote DA, the more black the DA will become, it will make a formidable opposition party to the ANC, and it will be represented by the more educated, and upcoming law-abiding middle-class of South Africans.

      Sibusiso - 2012-10-14 09:04

In syria Assad belongs to the minority they make 2 million out of 20 million Syrians but Assad has military power, who that leads has access to military power, juts like the NATs did, how do you think they managed to oppress the people ? Your use of numbers is irrelevant, you should rather look into history to explain why darker africans don't white to be ruled by lighter skinned africans.

      Sibusiso - 2012-10-14 09:13

Having said that. If the lighter skinned want to rule over S.A or any other african country or Asian country they have to change history and show that they are against racism. They need to regain the trust of their fellow country men, 18 years back the lighter skinned used to call the darker ones k*$frs. Even today you still find a lot of racists among the light skinned ones. For DA to rule they have to gain the trust of the majority. On this same article, some light skinned africans who are pro-DA insulted the darker africans, calling them names.

S'bu - YOUR comment is unreasonable! cindy points out that if the DA had to be represented far more by black then military power would be meaningless in your "nuance" that power would be exercised by a minority - simply because it would no longer be a minority and certainly would not be of a 'singular' colour as was the NAT regime previous to the current anc communist cadre regime! So what is your beef?

  • ndlovuvincent - 2012-10-14 08:37

I think one has to swallow his pride and give credit where it is due in respect of the performance displayed by the DA in the western cape.It is very rude to downplay their performance and turn a blind eye on it.Having said that,it does not mean that they will ever get my vote as I am not very happy with the way white bosses are treating us in the workplaces. They are still leaving in the past era with their attitude and that alone does not tell me that there will ever be real reconciliation in this country.I know that some other companies are doing much better to redress the imbalances and well done to those.I also complain about the tendency on this where if u talk against DA,u are seen as a fool and less human. If u do not say something that support the actions of the DA,u are not a complete human being.Lindiwe Mazibuko and Senusi Maimane are few of the blacks regarded as real human beings, not forgetting Madonsela,Tutu,Ramphele Mbekis brother, because they are always against the ANC,which is not to say they are not saying the truth. It is some of these reasons,I will never vote the DA,unless most of them treat us as human beings.I will never fail to applaud the DA wherever they do well but their supporters must change their attitude towards others.

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 09:08

Sure mfowethu you are so right, whites dont want change. We tried to reconsile with them but oh! no! They kept on bashing our heads and calling us all sorts of names, for how long must we silently endure their abuse?

      khethu.ndlovu.3 - 2012-10-14 09:11

Running a province and running a country are two very different things, just like in the good old days when the np run the country and have to satisfy the interests of a handful of whites.

      vicki.malatse - 2012-10-14 11:38

well said, my point exactly why I said I will never vote for DA,no matter how right they might be,its de attitude of their supporters who mostly are whites,so they must blame themselves why 100 yrs from now will still be stucked with corruption

      Annelize Grobler - 2012-10-14 12:13

so keep on voting ANC !!!! you'll see our country will become 1 of the best in the world, corruption free and very rich and safe... go on keep voting !!!!

      sexyfancyface - 2012-10-17 14:40

At leaast Gatsheni you give credit where it is due....But what is strange is I see more black people also spew bile about people and it seems acceptable it only becomes a problem when it is dished out by whites on blacks. But race is outdated performance is key I mean race is so irrelevant who would have thought the US would ever have a man of colour as President? But that is still unfair the ANC is equally intolerant towards the DA and we black DA members are equally called names and bootlickers of white people and the last time I checked we all have a right to support whoever we want and unapologetically so however we need to sound apologetic to support the DA because we are black. So none is better even the leadership of the ANC continues to spew racist rhetoric and everyone is fine with it so long as it doesnot come from a white man. We are just damn hypocrites....I believe that the future of this country will be in great hands with the DA and not with the ANC, I have wasted my votes for 18 years and it is high time I personally make my vote count. I will not suffer and vote for a black man just for the sake of it and the colour of his skin when he is messing the country up. I know many terrible and racist white people and wonderful white people just like I know many terrible black people and wonderful black people. Some are tribalists and hate my zulu nation some hate my adopted xhosa nation and they say unkind things but it seems ok so long as its not from a white man.c

  • Michael Morreira - 2012-10-14 08:46

Compare the 2 parties. The ANC is running the country but not as well or as fairly as the DA would. Race issues aside, we need the best leadership to move SA forward.

I am so glad I dot have children who have to grow up in this country. The ANC and its cadres have screwed up this country and there is no future with this black arrogance.

Ok, good for you, now dive back into your hole.

      Sibusiso - 2012-10-14 09:26

Good for you and your kids but why do you still have interest in South Africans issues ?? Why are you not in your new country forum ?

Most young xhosa and even xhosa-nostra folk I know now use the term 'refugee' as a term of endearment SO WELL DONE.

I think to up the numbers dramatically, the DA needs a new dance routine, 'Gangnam Style'. It sure beats uMshini Wami.

Zile still don't get it. The DA, with its racial window dressing and toy-toying will never be a formidable opposition party. SA needs a black opposition party, who appeals to the black voters, and who offers an alternative to corruption, wealth grabs, inefficiency, cadre deployment and general barbarism. SA need a COPE party with Madonsela as party leader.

I am from a coloured area in KZN...my biggest challenge is do I vote for the ANC or do I vote for the DA? In wards which have been won by the DA I see lovely tarred an clean area, in the Anc ward that I am in I only get to drive over potholes, un kept infrastructure. Now this ward of ours has all the facilities (soccer fields, cricket grounds, public pool etc) but hell since the last 3 anc councillors it has gone from Lovely to Shabby! I really wonder who should i vote for in the next election??? Nevertheless i will Continue to Pray for the Right Councillor..!

Hugh you are joking am sure....

It was an awesome congress and I was very proud to be DA member. It was an amazing speech by Helen Zille.

No, I do not agree with everything the ANC is doing. I would like to see the death penalty for serious crimes, the abolishment of abortion on demand. I constructively critisize the ANC when its due and commend them when its due. It is the ANC that gave me the right to voice my criticism. Freedom was attained under the banner of the ANC and not the DA. It is important to know that when you vote for a party you are also voting for its foreign policy. The ANC is conforming with international law when they are demanding that produce coming from the occupied Palestine be labelled as such. It was the DA that opposed them. I live in the western cape. I see how the zionists are emboldened by their white government. They openly threaten palestinian supporters. Its time to retire this DA to the dustbin of history. Vote ANC

      sexyfancyface - 2012-10-17 14:45

Lol....vote DA for a better life....the ANC HAS REACHED ITS DEAR SELBY DATE...

  • reba.moroeng - 2012-10-14 13:50

It would be interesting to see how SA's relations with other African countries would be like if the DA were to win an election, with the low regard for Africans in general and Africa as a whole white people seem to have. I'd vote DA for that reason alone.

  • markus.andersson.129 - 2012-10-14 18:40

Why do people talk about whites this and whites that? Of 9 provincial leaders, only 4 are now white. The DA:s national leadership aside from Zille is made up of Wilmot James, Lindiwe Mazibuko, James Selfe and Mmusi Maimane. That is oly 2 whites out of 5 top positions. Wake up, people; DA is no a "white party". Don't let race based fears control how you cast your vote. Future is to important.

      sexyfancyface - 2012-10-17 14:46

The DA is the only true non racial party in SA....
