Conduct during ANC conference 'exceptional'

2012-06-29 20:10

Johannesburg - The ANC has acted with integrity during four days of policy discussions in Midrand, President Jacob Zuma said on Friday.

"Comrades, you have displayed exceptional conduct and restored the integrity of the organisation," Zuma told delegates in his closing address to laughter, jeers, cheers and whistles.

He said delegates had debated policy with dignity.

It had been a landmark conference amid much speculation.

"I've always said that people believe they know and understand the ANC and yet they always prove themselves less knowledgable about the ANC," he said to loud cheers.

Zuma, who is also the party president, said it was the conference that had the final word, not individuals.

    ANC is a disgrace

      Musawakhe - 2012-06-29 21:25

      ANC is the governing party!

      maseratifittipaldi - 2012-06-30 08:44

Therfore, by substitution : a disgrace is the governing party.

  • ansie.b.badenhorst - 2012-06-29 20:28

Now he is praising the conference because there was no in-fighting or swearing at each other. Should it not be the norm to have a conference peacefully and with dignity??????

      ingi.raikes - 2012-06-29 22:32

Funny you should say that Ansie, it's just what l thought! I mean, surely the ruling party, the one that runs the Country, the one who protects it's Citizens, the one that should always be dignified and should set a good example...........doesn't it go without saying.....................................? Oh dear, perhaps not...........................!!!

So they did not climb in their trees, and did not start to pelt each other with coconuts. Highly commendable, highly exceptional -against all expectations, all get a star and a kiss from teacher. They destroy SA a bit more each day. Bad enough, and no we have to endure this meaningless, nauseating self-congratulatory blather on top of it. Pass me the bucket. Bleuuuurgh.

    Awesome job Comrades.....ViVa ANC

      Musawakhe - 2012-06-29 21:23

Agree Chief, excellent job indeed. What is left is Mangaung to pass resolutions for radical changes. Viva ANC, Viva!

      calamariman - 2012-06-29 21:41

Victor - I remain open minded about these things. What did the congress acheive to allow one to shout "viva"? A proposal to get rid of the Western Cape, the only well run province? Or "viva" to spending 2 billion on a plane! A plane for the president! 2 billion of money taken from helping the poor? Or "viva" to going into the congress with no economic plan and coming out with even less of a plan? Or "viva" to the hospitals without medicine and doctors? Perhaps you mean "viva" for ordering the text books for schools, but forgetting to deliver them? Oh, and let's slip in as many "vivas" as possible now, before the new restriction on the media bill gets passed? A few hearty "vivas" to the Northern Cape for electing a leader so tainted with corruption and is facing trial for fraud and corruption? Is this the best the ANC can do? I'll save my "vivas" for the ANC of Mandela, the ANC of Albert Luthuli, the ANC of Oliver Tambo, the ANC of Sol Plaatjies. But, the only "viva" (meaning life, live) that should be awarded to this lot is the length of the prison sentences they should get for utterly ruining the South African dream, for stealing money from the poor, for the lies and falsehoods that have been sold to the public, for the rascisim that they have so conveniently ressurected.

Adults are supposed to show integrity at ALL TIMES. But the morally bankrupt Zuma wouldn`t know anything about that. ANC hooligans behave like adults should for 4 days only once and they congratulate each other! The party that used to inspire hope has really gone to the dogs. Cry the beloved country

  • gavin.taylor.79 - 2012-06-29 20:37

Got to agree with Ansie...when politicians debating in a civil manner makes news headlines, then you know the country is in the dwang.

  • sizwe.bwana - 2012-06-29 20:37

Pity about the water bottle throwing, the counter song singing and the change of strategic purpose. Otherwise all went well!!!

  • Bruce - 2012-06-29 20:40

According to City Press delegates threw water bottles at each other, but apparently they were small, so it is ok because no one got hurt. Strange idea of integrity! Dignity?

      juan.prinsloo.750 - 2012-06-29 20:55

I suppose they didn't throw chairs, do any looting or damaged property in the process. Quite an achievement.....

  • sidwell.francis - 2012-06-29 20:54

This party is so used to mediocrity that they even applaud average expected behaviour,,,ai mara mzansi!

  • Rowan Atterbury - 2012-06-29 21:03

Pathetic bunch of clowns. You get a f...ing gold star for acting like humans.

  • Musawakhe - 2012-06-29 21:19

Just came back from a very successful policy conference. We will be reporting to fellow comrades in our branches for clarity regarding policy proposals so that major resolutions are passed at our 53rd conference in Mangaung. We are marching forward with the second phase of transition. ANC lives, ANC leads!

      Erna - 2012-06-29 22:13

      Can't wait - not!

      themba.thwala.98 - 2012-06-29 22:53

What does the mob that usurped power from Parliament and fired a President know about leading? The ANC failed to even implement the so-called Polokwane Resolutions. What makes you so certain they will implement Mangaung Resolutions? I wish someone could invent a cure for stupidity

  • luvo.luvos - 2012-06-29 21:20

I like the part where they say people think they know ANC but don't. Reality is, everyone thought they did but found out that they didn't!!

  • raymond.abrahamse - 2012-06-29 21:33

HUMPHREYS--cg.tours has put some questions to your statements that you have made regarding land that was stolen.Let us have the facts,we are all waiting.let us hear how clever You are.Don't be a coward like rest of your type.

  • stuart.valk - 2012-06-29 21:40

Quite lame that good behaviour is a news worthy storey

  • aderitotmn - 2012-06-29 21:50

I saw the guys on the news...they were SLEEPY...is that good behavior??

  • Lindelwa - 2012-06-29 22:07

When will this man stop bearing his head on the sand; denial is not the solution. Pictures show people showing substituion signs; others pointing 2 fingers up whilst others are showing the shower sign. It is reported that delegates were throwing water bottles at each other and today the president had to be saved from the embarrassment when delegates were exchanging blows. Maybe the president thinks it was a nightmare. He'll c the real thing in Mangaung!!

  • Erna - 2012-06-29 22:09

It doesn't take much to restore the anc's integrity - only four days of reasonably good behaviour. But that's only according to our morally deficient president!

  • Freddie - 2012-06-29 22:15

So there we have it from the horses mouth; when the ANC act like normal humans it is 'exceptional'.

  • michael.i.wright - 2012-06-29 22:20

You held a conference without erupting in a riot, what do you want, a cookie?

  • hans.himmler.7 - 2012-06-29 22:32

"exceptional" is in the eyes of the beholder.

  • frankflower - 2012-06-30 00:51

ANC supporters are deaf, dumb and blind...

  • Alain Alexander - 2012-06-30 09:30

"restored integrity to the organization" lol really?
