DA gives Nomvula Mokonyane 5/10

2010-12-10 08:16
Johannesburg - Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane scored five out of ten in the performance score card compiled by the Democratic Alliance.

DA leader in Gauteng John Moodey said on Thursday that Mokonyane scored five for sacking four out of five MECs identified by the DA as underperformers.

"She has failed to honour her promise to rid the provincial government of corrupt officials and politicians," he said.

The best performer scoring the highest mark of 6.5 out of 10, was Finance MEC, Mandla Nkomfe.

"The DA gives credit to the MEC for the fact that the Gauteng treasury received a clean audit report and that the MEC and his department are always open to ideas and suggestions."

He said they however believed that Nkomfe should ensure that the provincial government maintains a positive cash flow.

The worst performer scoring 2.5 out of 10 was the former MEC for Community Safety, Khabisi Mosunkutu.

"He attempted far too many projects badly instead of rather focusing on fewer projects and getting them right," Moodey said.
