Politicians call for focus on economy

We asked politicians what they hope to hear in President Zuma's State of the Nation address. Watch.WATCH

Cape Town - President Jacob Zuma stepped up to the podium of the National Assembly to deliver his State of the Nation address on Tuesday evening.

Zuma spoke with a strained voice, but managed to crack a laugh as he greeted MPs.

Earlier, MPs ululated and clapped as Zuma walked into the chamber while the praise-singing reverberated through the building.

The Economic Freedom Fighters remained seated while others stood up out of respect for Zuma's office.
