Pretoria - Hundreds of Economic Freedom Fighters gathered at the Soshanguve hostel outside Pretoria on Saturday, awaiting the arrival of their Gauteng premier candidate Dali Mpofu.

The EFF supporters danced and sang struggle songs.

"Ho rona ko pele [we are the one's going forward]," they sang.

Most of the EFF members were dressed in the party's red T-shirts and signature red berets.

Some of the T-shirts bore pictures of the party's leader, Julius Malema.

Mpofu, who is an advocate, jumped ship from the African National Congress to join the EFF several months ago.

While he was expected to have addressed the crowds at around 10:00, the event had not begun by 13.30.
