Johannesburg - The ANC illegally erected posters in Port Elizabeth as part of its 101st anniversary celebrations, the DA said on Monday.

"These posters have been reported to be blocking the view of the traffic and in some instances to have been put up too low," Democratic Alliance regional spokesperson Knight Mali said in a statement.

"The DA has since discovered that these posters have been erected without obtaining the required permission... [and] is calling on the ANC to abide by the law and remove the illegally erected posters."

African National Congress regional secretary Zandisile Qupe disputed this.

"For them it is a reaction to the ANC's success in Nelson Mandela Bay. They say they want to be the ruling party, and when they see this they get worried and they try and find things to use against the ANC.

"When we put up posters on the roads, we put them high up for the motorists to see. They have not been put up illegally."

The Nelson Mandela Bay ANC held its 101st anniversary rally in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.

Sean Bagley says... La question is:"Why did it take the goats-herder leader Zoomer and his ANC cadres so long to come out with a statement on Gupta? These clowns in government must surely believe their own hype that the rest of South Africa is as stupid as they are. Brainf@rt Zuma says:"Waterkloof Airforcebase is not a national key point",and that's right its just a bloody playground the filthy rich in South Africa can use to land their model airplanes disguised as a strategic military base right? Oh and by the way mieliepap that is Zuma can we South Africans start using Waterkloof for family picnics and car racing events? And the same question for the Nkandla military compound of Zuma. Infantile and backwards is still the trademark for all African leaders as we know them. And whats more, the clown that is Zuma, has just raised that incompetence bar just a little bit higher than it used to be with his ineptitude.
