Johannesburg - Freedom Front Plus finance committee chairperson Hennie Taljaard was suspended before he could make a speech at the party's federal council, Beeld reported on Saturday.

During his financial report, Taljaard was reportedly set to reveal that the FF Plus federal executive, including party leader Pieter Mulder, failed to act on alleged financial mismanagement.

This was after Mulder's brother, Corne, and other Western Cape party leaders incorrectly deposited money from a large donation.

"I was suspended so I cannot bring to light what the party leadership swept under the rug," Taljaard told the newspaper.

In his speech he would have reported that several provincial leaders refused to let their province's bank statements and debit order-income be made public. This made details about party contributions by MPs difficult to track.

It was alleged that R15 000, which was part of a donation, was drawn from the bank by Corne and paid to Taljaard as commission.

Taljaard claimed he had never received the money.

The FF Plus's federal council, which comprised of representatives from all nine provinces, gathered for a meeting in Centurion on Saturday morning.
