Fight to reclaim the ANC, Malema urges

2012-01-13 14:21

Johannesburg - Embattled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema has called for leadership change in the ruling party, newspapers reported on Friday.

He urged African National Congress members to "reclaim" the party during its elective conference in Mangaung in December, reported The Star.

"Let's get ready. We are going for a fight. We are going to Mangaung," it quoted Malema as saying while he delivered the Ephraim Mogale memorial lecture in Moutse, Limpopo, on Thursday.

'Reclaim the ANC'

"We are going to reclaim the ANC, to position it in such a way that it will survive the next hundred years."

Malema said the ANC had survived for a hundred years because it engaged in robust debates and allowed criticism.

"Today, those who have a different view are pushed aside... Discipline in the ANC was never used to suppress a different view," he said.

"If there is a leadership that is afraid of new views, new ideas, that leadership will kill the ANC."

Malema is in the process of appealing against his five-year suspension for bringing the party into disrepute and for sowing division in its ranks.

He said former ANC president Alfred Xuma did not kick former president Nelson Mandela out of the party for his radical views when he was young.

Xuma had eventually been removed from power because he rejected the prospect of an armed struggle, as proposed by Mandela and former ANC president Oliver Tambo, who were members of the ANCYL at the time.

Critical of Jacob Zuma

The Times
reported that Malema also used the lecture to criticise President Jacob Zuma's decision to place five Limpopo departments under national administration.

He hinted that the decision was driven by politics, in an effort to sideline certain groups ahead of the conference.

He said the re-election of Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale as ANC provincial chairperson had "proved them wrong".

"They took over the government thinking that state power would be used to win at the conference. There was a win with or without state power."

“ The Gang of Four Chinese Communist Party members came to power during the Cultural Revolution (1966–76), and were charged with a series of treasonous crimes. The gang consisted of Jiang Qing, Mao Zedong's last wife as the leading figure of the group, and her close associates Zhang Chunqiao, Yao Wenyuan, and Wang Hongwen. In 1980, the trials of the Gang of Four began. Among the prosecution’s charge of actual crimes were the usurpation of state power and party leadership; the persecution of some 750,000 people, 34,375 of whom died during the period 1966-76. It was at this trial that Jiang Qing made the famous quote: "I was Chairman Mao's dog. I bit whomever he asked me to bite." Jiang Qing was sentenced to death in 1981. “ Source Wikipidia. Vegi ~ And what category do the meat eaters belong Vrot Cabbage?

  • Shirley - 2012-01-13 14:47

Anyone who has read the rise of Hitler will notice the startling simarlarities to Malema. His stuggle and jujus are all for the self glorification and wealth. The reason for his outrage at the 5 departments under administration is its not so easy for his corrupt cronies to practice their dirty little deeds! This guy better be nipped in the ever growing bud because if not he will hurt black and white South Africans and I doubt if the country will be able to recover economically.

      Vegi - 2012-01-13 15:03

Hitler never fought for personal wealth, which history did you read. Hitler fought for "Vaderland", whatever that means.

  • Perfume - 2012-01-13 14:51

No, unfortunately they can't find a rope long enough to make a noose to fit around his thick neck and no bridge to support his weight when hanging from it.

Is this a forum for rightwingers? I am amazed by the thinking in this forum.

      Vegi - 2012-01-13 15:24

This forum is for the most evil rightwingers. It has a moderator of dubious abilities whose actions are abviously political motivated.

      andy4real - 2012-01-13 15:34

I share the same sentiments....I thinks it's designed for the righwingers........I'm sure they commenting from Bloemfontein, maybe Orania, but there is a chance they from the Cape...

      Paul - 2012-01-13 15:46

@ Joel .. which rightwingers are you talking about ... the white ones or the ones in the ANC like Malema ... what you fail to see is that if Malema gets his way .... takes land and nationalises banks and mines ...SA will be like Zimbawe R100/$, unemployment will skyrocket ... and there will be war yes WAR !!! ...do you think that we white and black will be happy after Malemas supid policies ruin what we've worked for for all our lives ... your house might be Worth R1M now but you won't get R100 000 for it, because there will be no buyers ...but I surpose that's your plan... no hard work for you ... I want I want ... and @Maggyone if you think that if we pinkies all left here your life will be better ...THINK AGAIN if you can ... We whites make a huge contribution to making SA the great country that it is ... I support President Zuma ...yes even if he took the money !!! because he wasn't the only one , Mebeki and his xhosa brothers took billions while going after Zuma for millions ...hypocrits ... Zuma is my man ... I think he is a good president, I could give you many examples why I think so ,but I don't have the time now .... if you two think Malema and Mbeki are the right men to lead this country ... you are even more confused than them !!!

      Vastar - 2012-01-13 16:00

Joel it is a forum in a democratic country where people have the freedom to say what they feel. If you don't like it here leave. By the way I hear your mom is calling you, there is a constant barking noise from her bedroom - run along now there might be a bone for you too.

      Jerhone - 2012-01-13 16:02

@ Joel this is a forum of thinkers not a*se kissers can't you see the majority are not against colour but against stupidity corruption and theft of state funds which should be used for the poor of this country?

      Irene - 2012-01-13 19:59

Yup, rightwing indeed. Anyone who doesn't agree with Vegi's warped way of thinking is automatically labelled a 'rightwinger'.

  • HRHWillyB - 2012-01-13 15:15

the ANC survived 100 years because of Apartheid you chop! No more Apartheid no more common enemy... now you turn on each other to see who can shovel the most tenders down your filthy throats. The ANC is now only a brand. No longer a revolutionary movement and most definitely NOT a political party. A bunch of hyena's feeding off the brand that is ANC. The end is nigh!

      Vegi - 2012-01-13 15:38

The common enemy is very much alive as evidenced by your silly comment.

He's appealing his 5 year suspension for amongst other things sowing division, and he continues to do so. Lost cause, I think he should take his motley crew of followers and jojn the PAC with them, then they can all disappear into oblivion together. There is no place in this wonderful country for radical bull dust like this. We need to try and get the country right economically, create an environment where jobs can be created. To absorb all the university graduates that Blade plans to produce.

We need each other going forward into the many possible disasters that the earth faces - famine, water shortages etc. Get a heart!!!

      Jerhone - 2012-01-13 16:50

Juanita best thing to do about earths problems is bend over and kiss your a*se goodbye, there are too many greedy men who controle this world who will NEVER stop producing in case their wallets shrink, powerful faceless behind the scenes people who pull the strings of power and industry, your little eco dream will remain just that, a dream, enjoy what time we have on this planet before it turns on us, now let us get on with politics and not racism

Everybody is interested in the daily doings of a leader. News24 and its rightwing commentators are no exception. Admit it, Malama's daily doings are your concern. You know that what he says may affect you. He is your future leader even if you are a rightwinger. No matter how rabid you are he is going to be a turning point in your life. The sooner you accept it the better. You should try to adapt to the coming changes.

      Siyanda - 2012-01-13 16:22

@Vegi "You know that what he says may affect you" Hell, no!! it affects the ANC and we love it. He should be on more often. Every time he move his mouth the ANC lose supporters.

      Mark - 2012-01-13 18:12

I agree with several other commentators....you should ask for your school fees back. First, JuJu has as much chance of running this country as Mahatma Gandhi, too many enemies both within and outside of the ANC. Thankful for Mad Bob Mugabe to let everyone know what could have been in store....and frankly, it ain't gonna happen. Second, all this talk about capitalism being soooo evil and oppressive. Ask the Cuban or the former citizen of the USSR, the peasant in China, etc. how well " communism" worked. It was a total and unmitigated failure. Taking form someone to give to someone else doesn't create prosperity, only a lack of incentive. Agreed, unbridled capitalism is very dangerous, that is where our government needs to rein in the excesses of greed, corruption and exploitation. But if you think that socialism as professed by many cohorts in the ANC works, then you better get ready to get rid of your BMW, your Johhny Walker, your Movado watch, Levi Jeans, oh and all the food on your table...all the benefits of capitalism, basically people with a vision, taking a risk and working hard to achieve benefits for their family and themselves. If you think your neighbour will work extremely hard to feed, clothe, house, insure, provide medical care and transportation/ infrastructure for you and anyone else regardless of your contribution....boy can I have what you are smoking? It does not, and will not work.

      ISO - 2012-01-14 11:15

@observer, what you said will hopefully sink in for these communist supports - a coin has two sides!

@ Maggyone. It's people like you and Juluis that need to be silenced. Your comment about (Pinkies) is utter rubbish.

      Jeremy - 2012-01-13 16:27

Maggyone. Well, whether you blame the pinkies or not, if you don't try harder your country will fail. Thing is it's my country too. Yep, it is. I never asked to be born here, but I like it. Please forget about what you think pinkies did to you, your misfortune and lack of wherewithal to improve your lot are a direct result of the type of though process that has you blaming pinkies for everything. It really is true, I actually do have knowledge that you don't. The best attitude a person in your position could take would be to try and learn from me. That way, your world get's better. Oh jellytot "Discipline is the process by which energy is directed along certain lines to the exclusion of others. Instead of being expended in many ways in unreflecting response to every stimulant applied, it is concentrated and made to focus itself upon a single point, or rather is confined within certain narrow limits. Discipline is often spoken of as acquired power. A more exact statement would seem to be that discipline is ability to make energy effective by confining it in a certain channel. GEO P. BROWN, Illinois School Journal, Sep. 1886

Before same julius humiliated and harassed many journalist now is verbally attacking Mr Zuma.

  • Zebelon - 2012-01-13 22:31

Julie-ass, the ANC leadership is not against proposals advanced by the ANCYL, but are confronting lack of discipline that was shown by individuals in the YL, like yourself. As you can see, not all ANCYL members have been brought to book for their call for change. Charges were brought against in person as a result of your unacceptable utterances. And don't compare yourself to Mandela, nor must you equate your position to the Xuma-Mandela scenario; there is just no similarity. Come to your senses, if at all you have any.
