Free State ANC to discipline members

Johannesburg - The Free State ANC is to take disciplinary action against six of its members who tried to get a provincial conference declared null and void.
"We have taken this decision in Polokwane [in 2007] that if any member took the party to court they must be expelled," provincial secretary William Bulwane said on Thursday.
"But this would be contradicting the ANC constitution, so we will follow the processes in the constitution."
On Thursday the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein dismissed the application by the six African National Congress members to have the 22 June conference annulled.
They wanted a court order stopping provincial leader Ace Magashule, who was re-elected at the conference, and his provincial executive committee (PEC), from working.
The six wanted an interdict against Magashule and the PEC, and the ANC to dissolve the Free State PEC and appoint an interim management structure.
The national ANC's decision to accept and support the June Free State conference elections should also be put aside, they had asked the court.
A spokesman for the group told the SABC: "Today the judge was very unfair because we have all the evidence... provided in terms of how the conference was rigged and we put it in front of the court."
