Gauteng govt staying put
Johannesburg - The ANC in Gauteng was not planning to make any changes in the provincial government, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The ANC Gauteng has no reason currently to reshuffle government," the party said.
"The current leadership has no intention to change deployees in government."
The provincial African National Congress said it was reacting to media speculation that Paul Mashatile's provincial executive committee could decide to make changes.
Mashatile beat Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane in the race for the chairmanship of the ANC Gauteng last week.
"The current provincial executive committee under the leadership of Comrade Paul Mashatile has not met and no decision has been taken to change cabinet.
"The current cabinet under the Premier Nomvula Mokonyane has worked very well," the Gauteng ANC said.
It would be an "illusion" to make changes a year into the new provincial government.
"It is not an opportune time to make changes. We need to have an objective assessment of government performance," the party said.
