Gauteng premier's office underspends - DA
Johannesburg - The office of Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane failed to spend R24.3m of its R217m budget, the Democratic Alliance said on Thursday.
"This is not a good example for other departments that also struggle with underspending in key programmes," caucus leader, Jack Bloom, said.
Mokonyane's spokesperson Xoli Mngambi said the premier would comment after tabling her political report on Friday.
"I request you to be part of the media when the premier tables her political report tomorrow [Friday], and pose questions to her," he said.
Bloom said the premier's office had not achieved its objectives, part of the problem being the high number of unfilled posts.
He said the number of vacant posts had gone up from 23.9% in 2010 to 31.5% in the current financial year.
