Lekota supporters barred from offices
Johannesburg - The Mosiuoa Lekota-aligned faction of the Cope youth movement was on Wednesday barred from their offices by security guards allegedly employed by the Mbhazima Shilowa faction.
"They deployed security guards to prevent anyone from entering," said Youth Movement first deputy president Lesego Sentsho at the Metropolitan Building in Johannesburg.
Burly men in black suits stood guard outside the door to the Cope offices, preventing anyone from entering.
Sentsho said an "explosive" announcement was set to be made at the briefing.
Journalists and a handful of Cope Youth members were now making their way to another floor of the building to hold the briefing.
The party remains locked in a power struggle between co-founders Lekota, who is apparently the party's leader, and Shilowa, Cope's first deputy president.
