Mahlangu-Nkabinde 'spent R500k on PR'

2011-11-30 10:49

Johannesburg - Sacked public works minister Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde spent almost R500 000 on public relations consultants in the weeks before her axing, according to a report on Wednesday.

Mahlangu-Nkabinde, who was removed from office in October, spent the money on Mpine M Consulting, according to a written reply to a parliamentary question by her successor, Thulas Nxesi.

The Star newspaper reported that the Centurion-based firm was contracted to "help strengthen media expertise within the department".

A total of R250 822 was spent on September 5 and another R237 142 on September 16.

Mahlangu-Nkabinde was sacked after Public Protector Thuli Madonsela found her decision to give the go-ahead for multi-million-rand leases for police headquarters in Pretoria and Durban, despite legal advice to the contrary, amounted to maladministration.

However, Mahlangu-Nkabinde at the time said it all happened before she was appointed minister.

I wonder if the "M" in Mpine M Consulting stands for Mahlangu-Nkabinde???

Hope she has savings set aside to pay this bill. I am so tired of these people expecting hard working tax payers to foot the bills for their indiscretions.

Mpine M Consulting is owned by Abbey Makoe. Makoe is another (of a multitude) of public terrorists that are well connected within the ANC. He had a stint with the SAHRC as the chairman of the Forum for Black Journalist (FBJ) - following a complaint by Radio 702 re racism. In return he made a number of malicious comments (in public) about the SAHRC. The SAHRC also found that the FBJ's blacks only membership policy was unconstitutional and would be disbanded. There was also an incident (that ended at the SAHRC) where Makoe barred all non-black (ie white-, Indian, etc) journalists from a briefing with Jacob Zuma, co-sponsored by the FBJ. This character is an out-and-out BLACK FASCIST. He represents everything that the ANC stands for - ie RABID BLACK RACISM and the manic oppression of everything that is non-black. One can understand why he is closely associated with a criminal like Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde, equally is it clear what the origins are for inhibiting (if not oppressing) the sector of the media that is not directly under ANC control - viz BLACK FASCISTS like Makoe, that wants to rule the roost... Public terrorists like Abby Makoe, are all parasites, that survive by siphoning off tax-payers money. It is time for the bona-fide tax-payers of SA, who effectively have no representation in parliament, to take control of OUR money.

  • Cynthia - 2011-11-30 15:12

Our Government earns ridiculous, over the top, salaries. Do they have any conception of just exactly how much money that is? I doubt it. So wasting so much money on hiring consultants, in her mind, didn't amount to all that much. Probably can't understand what all the fuss is about.

  • Mart - 2011-11-30 15:12

I blame the person/s who are appointing these halfwits into these positions.....cut this snakes head off to repair the dire straits the 'fiscus' is heading into.
