Johannesburg - DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane met with Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday afternoon in Ramaphosa's capacity as leader of government business.

"In this cordial meeting, we spoke about a number of issues, including our parties working together where we agreed, and that the voices on the opposition benches are heard when we disagree," Maimane said in a statement.

As Parliament formed policy and implemented the National Development Plan, it was important the DA as the official opposition had a good, but critical relationship with the executive and the ruling party.

"The meeting was the first of more in the future, as we continue to work for the betterment of South Africa," Maimane said.
