Malema attack unnecessary - SACP

Cape Town - The SA Communist Party in the Eastern Cape on Monday criticised ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema's "unnecessary" attacks on the party.

The SACP in the Eastern Cape had noted the "outburst and unnecessary attacks" on the SACP and party general secretary Blade Nzimande by Malema during the league's provincial congress at the weekend, SACP provincial secretary Xolile Nqata said.

"We have since taken a view that we will not be responding to comrade Julius in line with our decision to desist from any form of public spats between alliance components and the broader movement," he said.

In view of this, the provincial SACP placed its full confidence in the alliance national leadership and the leadership of the ANC in particular as a leader of the alliance to handle the matter with the seriousness it deserved.

"On our part, we commit ourselves for building and safe guarding the unity of our alliance and never to allow anything to divert us from the important task of implementing our five priorities as contained in the election manifesto," Nqata said.
